DD made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Wayne Parnell and Rahul (Shar)made way for Natham Coulter-Nile and Jaydev Unadkat.
KKR made no changes to their playing eleven.
On winning the toss, Gautam Gambhir, KKR’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of KKR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 31, and lost a couple
of wickets.
Jacques Kallis, who faced a ball, didn’t open his account. A ball into
the match, he was caught by Ross Taylor. Mohammed Shami broke the one-run
stand.
Gambhir, who faced four balls, didn’t get off the mark. Nine balls
later, he was caught by Jean-Paul Duminy, the player of the match. Coulter-Nile
broke the 10-run stand.
KKR scored 50 off eight overs (48 balls). DD had conceded a dozen extras
at that point.
The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 49 balls. While Manish Pandey’s contribution
to the partnership was 33, Robin Uthappa’s contribution to it was 14. Extras’
contribution to the partnership was four.
Pandey, whose 42-ball innings included five boundaries, eventually
scored 48. Fifty-six balls after Gambhir’s dismissal, Shahbaz Nadeem broke the
64-run partnership.
KKR scored 100 off 14.1 overs (85 balls). DD had conceded a dozen extras
at that point.
Uthappa’s half-century – which included five boundaries and a six – came
off 38 balls.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 31 balls. While Uthappa’s contribution
to the partnership was 35, Shakib Al Hasan’s contribution to it was 15. Extras didn’t
contribute to the partnership.
Uthappa eventually scored 55 off 41 balls, which included half-a-dozen
boundaries, in addition to the six. Half-a-dozen overs later, he was caught by
Ross Taylor. Unadkat broke the 57-run partnership.
Shakib Al Hasan, whose 22-ball innings included a couple of boundaries
and six, scored 30. He was unbeaten.
KKR scored 150 off 18.3 overs (111 balls). DD had conceded a dozen extras
at that point.
Yusuf Pathan, whose eight-ball innings included a boundary, scored 11. Sixteen
balls after Uthappa’s dismissal, Coulter-Nile broke the 25-run stand.
Suryakumar Yadav, who faced three balls, scored eight. His runs came by
way of boundaries. He was unbeaten.
DD eventually conceded 14 extras. KKR scored 166 for the loss of five wickets
off 20 overs.
James Neesham, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 26. He was
wicketless, as was Duminy, who bowled three overs, conceding 25.
Nadeem, who bowled three overs, conceded 29. He picked up a wicket, as did
Shami and Unadkat, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 33,
the latter conceded 25.
Coulter-Nile, who bowled four overs, conceded 27. He picked up a couple
of scalps.

Three overs after Agarwal’s dismissal, Kallis broke the 21-run stand.

Dinesh Karthik, DD’s skipper, scored 50 off 36 balls, which included
five boundaries and a couple of sixes.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 39 balls. While Dinesh’s contribution
to the partnership was 30, Duminy’s contribution to it was 18. Extras’ contribution
to the partnership was three.
Dinesh eventually scored 56 off 40 balls. Forty-five balls after Taylor’s
dismissal, he was trapped leg before wicket by Sunil Narine, who broke
the58-run partnership.
Manoj Tiwary, whose six-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight.
N(ar)ine balls after Dinesh’s dismissal, he was caught by the West Indian. Morne
broke the run-a-ball stand.
DD scored 150 off 17.5 overs (107 balls). The number of extras they had
conceded at that point gave KKR no reason to be in seventh heaven.
Duminy’s half-century – which included three boundaries and as many sixes
– came off 35 balls. He eventually scored 52, and was unbeaten.
Neesham, whose 11-ball innings included a six, scored eight. Twenty
balls after Manoj’s dismissal, he was caught by Yusuf. Chawla broke the 34-run
stand.
Coulter-Nile, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.
KKR eventually conceded 11 extras. DD, who scored 167 for the loss of
half-a-dozen wickets off 19.3 overs, won by four wickets with three balls to
spare.
Shakib, who bowled three overs, conceded 25. He was wicketless, as was Vinay
Kumar, who bowled four overs, conceding 35.
Kallis, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 15. He picked up a
wicket.
Chawla, who bowled 2.3 overs, conceded 27. He picked up a wicket.
Narine, who bowled four overs, conceded 18. He picked up a wicket.
