Rajasthan lose to Bailey-led KXIP

KXIP made one change to their playing eleven – Rishi Dhawan made way for Murali Kartik.

RR made one change to their playing eleven – Brad Hodge made way for Steven Smith.

On winning the toss, George Bailey, KXIP’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of RR’s innings -which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 54, and lost a wicket.

RR’s openers put on 22. Ajinkya Rahane, whose eight-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 13. Three overs into the match, Bailey ran him out.

RR scored 50 off 5.4 overs (35 balls). KXIP had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Abhishek Nayar, whose 20-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 23. Nineteen balls after Rahane’s dismissal, he was trapped leg before wicket by Kartik, who broke the 32-run stand.

RR scored 100 off 11.1 overs (68 balls). KXIP had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 32 balls. While Sanju Samson’s contribution to the partnership was 22, the contribution of Shane Watson, RR’s skipper, to it was 29. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

Watson’s half-century – which included five boundaries and three sixes – came off 28 balls.

He eventually faced 29 balls, failing to add to the aforementioned score. Forty-two balls after Nayar’s dismissal, Axar Patel broke the 74-run partnership.

Binny, whose eight-ball innings included a six, scored a dozen. Fourteen balls later, he was caught by David Miller. Mitchell Johnson broke the 16-run stand.

RR scored 150 off 16.1 overs (98 balls). KXIP had conceded three extras at that point.

Samson’s half-century – which included three boundaries and four sixes – came off 32 balls.

He eventually scored 52 off 34 balls. Eight balls after Binny’s dismissal, Parvinder Awana broke the 15-run stand.

Smith, whose 15-ball innings included five boundaries, scored 27. He was unbeaten, as was James Faulkner, who scored eight. Although his innings included a six, he had no reason to be in seventh heaven.

KXIP eventually conceded half-a-dozen extras. RR scored 191 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs.

Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.

Lakshmipathy Balaji, who was wicketless, conceded 46.

Kartik, Awana, Johnson, and Axar picked up a scalp apiece. They conceded 51, 40, 29, and 22, respectively.

KXIP scored 50 off 6.5 overs (41 balls). RR had conceded four extras at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 31 balls. While Cheteshwar Pujara’s contribution to the partnership was nine, the contribution of Glenn Maxwell, the player of the match, to it was 38. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.

Maxwell’s half-century – which included three boundaries and four sixes – came off 28 balls.

KXIP scored 100 off a dozen overs (72 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave RR no reason to be in seventh heaven.

The third-wicket pair put on 100 off 59 balls. While Pujara’s contribution to the partnership was 16, Maxwell’s contribution to it was 79. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was half-a-dozen.

Maxwell, whose 45-ball innings included eight boundaries and half-a-dozen sixes, eventually scored 89. Sixty-seven balls after Saha’s dismissal, he was caught by Smith. Kane Richardson broke the 116-run partnership.

KXIP scored 150 off 16.2 overs (98 balls). RR had conceded eight extras at that point.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 24 balls. While Pujara’s contribution to the partnership was 13, Miller’s contribution to it was 35. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.

Pujara, whose 38-ball innings included three boundaries, eventually scored 40. He was unbeaten, as was Miller eventually scored 51 off 19 balls, which included half-a-dozen sixes.

RR eventually conceded nine extras. KXIP, who scored 193 for the loss of three wickets off 18.4 overs, had a reason to be in seventh heaven – they won with eight balls to spare.

Binny, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded four.

Rajat Bhatia, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 38.

Pravin Tambe, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 26.

Richardson, who bowled three overs, conceded 25. He picked up a wicket.

Faulkner, who bowled 3.4 overs, conceded 45. He picked up a wicket.

Kulkarni, who bowled four overs, conceded 50. He picked up a scalp.
