M S-led CSK trounce Delhi

CSK made three changes to their playing eleven – Dwayne Bravo, Pawan Negi, and Ashish Nehra made way for Mithun Manhas, Ben Hilfenhaus, and Ishwar Pandey.

DD made no changes to their playing eleven.

On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of CSK’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 34, and lost a wicket.

Brendon McCullum, whose 10-ball innings included a boundary, scored nine. Twenty balls into the match, he was caught by the substitute, Wayne Parnell. Jaydev Unadkat broke the 23-run stand.

CSK scored 50 off as many balls (8.2 overs). DD had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 43 balls. While Dwayne Smith’s contribution to the partnership was 16, the contribution of Suresh Raina, the player of the match, to it was 32. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.

Dwayne Smith, whose 28-ball innings included three boundaries, eventually scored 29. Forty-six balls after McCullum’s dismissal, Shahbaz Nadeem broke the 54-run partnership.

Raina’s half-century – which included five boundaries and a six – came off 36 balls.

CSK scored 100 off 13.5 overs (83 balls). DD had conceded four extras at that point.

Raina eventually scored 56 off 41 balls. Twenty-two balls after Dwayne Smith’s dismissal, he was caught by Murali Vijay. James Neesham broke the 31-run stand.

Faf du Plessis, whose 17-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 24. Sixteen balls later, he was caught by Vijay. Mohammed Shami broke the 33-run stand.

CSK scored 150 off 18 overs (108 balls). DD had conceded five extras at that point.

Dhoni, whose 15-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and as many sixes, scored 32. Eight balls after du Plessis’ dismissal, he was caught by Mayank Agarwal. Unadkat broke the 15-run stand.

Although his three-ball innings included a six, Ravindra Jadeja had no reason to be in seventh heaven – a couple of balls later, he was caught by Dinesh Karthik, DD’s skipper. Unadkat broke the six-run stand.

Manhas, whose five-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 13. He was unbeaten.

The seventh-wicket pair put on 11. Ashwin, who faced a ball, scored a run. Five balls after Jadeja’s dismissal, Shami (Ravichand)ran him out.

Hilfenhaus, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.

DD eventually conceded half-a-dozen extras. CSK scored 177 for the loss of seven wickets off 20 overs.

Vijay, who bowled an over, conceded 13. He was wicketless, as was Jean-Paul Duminy, who bowled four overs, conceding 26.

Nadeem, who bowled three overs, conceded 29. He picked up a wicket, as did Shami and Neesham, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 45, the latter conceded 29.

Unadkat, who bowled four overs, conceded 32. He picked up three scalps.

Vijay, whose 12-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 11. Eight balls later, he was du Plessis. Needless to say, Mohit Sharma had no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Manoj Tiwary, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark. Five balls later, he was caught by du Plessis. Ishwar broke the two-run stand.

Duminy, who faced 14 balls, scored 15. Twenty-three balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Dwayne Smith, who broke the25-run stand.

DD scored 50 off 9.1 overs (55 balls). CSK had conceded one extra at that point.

Ross Taylor, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored half-a-dozen. Seven balls after Duminy’s dismissal, he was caught by Dhoni. Hilfenhaus broke the eight-run stand.

Dinesh, whose 22-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 21. Seventeen balls later, Ashwin broke the 24-run stand.

Neesham, whose 15-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 22. Ten balls later, he was caught by Raina. Jadeja broke the six-run stand.
