Negi, and Ashish Nehra made way for Mithun Manhas, Ben Hilfenhaus, and Ishwar
Pandey.
DD made no changes to their playing eleven.
On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of CSK’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 34, and lost a wicket.
Brendon McCullum, whose 10-ball innings included a boundary, scored
nine. Twenty balls into the match, he was caught by the substitute, Wayne
Parnell. Jaydev Unadkat broke the 23-run stand.
CSK scored 50 off as many balls (8.2 overs). DD had conceded a couple of
extras at that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 43 balls. While Dwayne Smith’s
contribution to the partnership was 16, the contribution of Suresh Raina, the
player of the match, to it was 32. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was
three.
Dwayne Smith, whose 28-ball innings included three boundaries,
eventually scored 29. Forty-six balls after McCullum’s dismissal, Shahbaz
Nadeem broke the 54-run partnership.
Raina’s half-century – which included five boundaries and a six – came
off 36 balls.

Manhas, whose five-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored
13. He was unbeaten.
The seventh-wicket pair put on 11. Ashwin, who faced a ball, scored a
run. Five balls after Jadeja’s dismissal, Shami (Ravichand)ran him out.
Hilfenhaus, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.
DD eventually conceded half-a-dozen extras. CSK scored 177 for the loss
of seven wickets off 20 overs.
Vijay, who bowled an over, conceded 13. He was wicketless, as was
Jean-Paul Duminy, who bowled four overs, conceding 26.
Nadeem, who bowled three overs, conceded 29. He picked up a wicket, as
did Shami and Neesham, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded
45, the latter conceded 29.
Unadkat, who bowled four overs, conceded 32. He picked up three scalps.

Duminy, who faced 14 balls, scored 15. Twenty-three balls later, he was
trapped leg before wicket by Dwayne Smith, who broke the25-run stand.
DD scored 50 off 9.1 overs (55 balls). CSK had conceded one extra at
that point.
Ross Taylor, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored
half-a-dozen. Seven balls after Duminy’s dismissal, he was caught by Dhoni.
Hilfenhaus broke the eight-run stand.
