Bangalore lose to Watson-led RR

RR made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – James Faulkner and Dhawal Kulkarni made way for Karun Nair and Kane Richardson.

RCB made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Varun Aaron and Muttiah Muralitharan made way for Sachin Rana and Ravi Rampaul.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 22, and lost five wickets.

Yogesh Takawale, who faced three balls, did not get off the mark. Four balls into the match, he was caught by Sanju Samson. Stuart Binny broke the one-run stand.

The second-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Parthiv Patel, who faced a ball, scored a run. The (Raha)next ball, Ajinkya and Samson ran him out.

Yuvraj Singh had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just (Smi)three. Eight balls later, he was caught by Steven. Richardson broke the four-run stand.

The fourth-wicket pair did not get off the mark. De Villers, who faced A Ball, didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was dismissed by Richardson.

Rana, who faced eight balls, scored just three. Eighteen balls later, Watson broke the 12-run stand.

Although his 13-ball innings included a boundary, Albie had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 20 balls later, he was caught by Smith. Pravin Tambe, the player of the match, broke the (Mork)eleven-run stand.

Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper, scored 21 off 25 balls, which included three boundaries. Eleven balls later, he was caught by Tim Southee. Tambe broke the 18-run stand.

RCB scored 50 off 11.5 overs (71 balls). RR had conceded four extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Mitchell Starc, whose 16-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 18. Twenty-one balls after Kohli’s dismissal, he was caught by Binny. Rajat Bhatia broke the 16-run stand.

Rampaul, whose run-a-ball innings included a six, scored 13. Three balls later, he was caught by Southee. Tambe broke the eight-run stand.

The last-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Ashok Dinda, who faced three balls, didn’t open his account. Three balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Tambe.

Yuzvendra Chahal, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.

RCB were bundled out for 70 off 15 overs.

Southee, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 16.

Bhatia and Binny bowled an over each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former was in seventh heaven, the latter conceded a run.

Watson bowled a couple of overs, including a maiden. He conceded 15, picking up a wicket.

Richardson, who bowled four overs, conceded 18. He picked up a couple of wickets.

Tambe, who bowled four overs, conceded 20. He picked up four scalps.

Nair, who faced a dozen balls, scored eight. Five balls later, he was caught by Parthiv. Starc broke the one-run stand.

RR scored 50 off 10.2 overs (62 balls). RCB had conceded three extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Abhishek Nayar, whose 17-ball innings included a boundary, scored 11. He was unbeaten.

Watson, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of sixes, scored 24. Thirty-eight balls after Nair’s dismissal, he was caught by de Villiers. Chahal broke the 32-run stand.

Binny, who did not face a ball, was unbeaten.

RR, who scored 71 for the loss of four wickets off 13 overs, had a reason to be in seventh heaven – they won by half-a-dozen wickets.

Dinda, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded eight. He was wicketless, as was Rampaul, who bowled four overs, conceding 16.

Chahal bowled three overs, including a maiden. He conceded 17, picking up a wicket.

Starc, who bowled four overs, conceded 29. He picked up a couple of wickets.
