CSK made no changes to their playing eleven.
On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, chose to
field.
The first Powerplay of DD’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 46, and lost a couple
of wickets.
DD’s openers put on 36. Quinton de Kock, whose 16-ball innings included
three boundaries and a couple of sixes, scored 24. Twenty-five balls into the
(Shar)match, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohit ran him out.
Kevin Pietersen, DD’s skipper, faced a ball, failing to open his
account. Two balls later, Mohit ran him out.
DD scored 50 off 7.1 overs (43 balls). CSK had conceded five extras at
that point.
The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 38 balls. While Murali Vijay’s
contribution to the partnership was 14, Dinesh Karthik’s contribution to it was

had conceded at that point gave CSK no reason to be in seventh heaven.
Karthik’s half-century – which included four boundaries and three sixes

dismissal, he was caught by Mohit. Ben Hilfenhaus broke the 71-run partnership.
Shukla, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark. An over
later, he was caught by Ishwar Pandey. Ravichandran Ashwin broke the 11-run
partnership.
Vijay, whose 30-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six,
eventually scored 35. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Faf du Plessis.
Jadeja broke the one-run stand.
DD scored 150 off 18 overs (108 balls). CSK had conceded 11 extras at
that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
The sixth-wicket pair put on 50 off 33 balls. While Jean-Paul Duminy’s
contribution to the partnership was 27, Kedar Jadhav’s contribution to it was
25. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.
Duminy, whose 17-ball innings included five boundaries, eventually
scored 28. He was unbeaten, as was Jadhav, who eventually scored 29. His
18-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and as many sixes.
DD scored 178 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs.
Dwayne Smith, the player of the match, bowled an over, conceding nine.
He was wicketless, as was Ishwar, who bowled three overs, including a maiden.
He conceded 26.
Mohit, Hilfenhaus, Ashwin, and Jadeja bowled four overs each, picking up
a scalp apiece. They conceded 51, 34, 29, and 23, respectively.

Dwayne eventually scored 79 off 51 balls, which included four boundaries
and eight sixes. Forty-four balls after McCullum’s dismissal, he was caught by
Vijay. Parnell broke the 86-run partnership.
Raina, whose 27-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and a six,
eventually scored 47. He was unbeaten, as was Dhoni, who scored 12. His
five-ball innings included a boundary and a six.
CSK, who scored 181 for the loss of a couple of wickets off 19.4 overs,
won by eight wickets with a couple of balls to spare.
Jaydev Unadkat bowled 3.4 overs, conceding 47. He was wicketless, as
were Mohammed Shami and Shahbaz Nadeem, who bowled four overs apiece. While the
former conceded 42, the latter conceded 27.
Shukla and Parnell bowled four overs each, picking up a scalp apiece.
While the former conceded 31, the latter conceded 25.
