CSK made no changes to their playing eleven.
SRH (Shar)made five changes to their playing eleven – Venugopal Rao,
Daren Sammy, Srikkanth Anirudha, Jason Holder, and Dale Steyn made way for Lokesh
Rahul, Ravi Bopara, Kane Williamson, Ishant, and Trent Boult.
On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of CSK’s innings – which was the
mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 49,
without the loss of a wicket.
CSK’s openers put on 50 off 6.1 overs (39 balls). SRH had
conceded 11 extras at that point. While Dwayne Smith’s contribution to the
partnership was 24, the contribution of Brendon McCullum, the player of the
match, to it was 18.
CSK’s openers eventually put on 75. Dwayne Smith, whose
26-ball innings included four boundaries and a six, scored 27. Fifty-two balls
into the match, Boult ran him out.
CSK scored 100 off 11.3 overs (72 balls). SRH had conceded
13 extras at that point.
McCullum’s half-century – which included four boundaries
and five sixes – came off 38 balls.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 28 balls. While
McCullum’s contribution to the partnership was 38, Suresh Raina’s contribution to

The second-wicket pair eventually put on 60. Raina, whose

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 28 balls. While

after Raina’s dismissal, he was caught by David Warner, SRH’s skipper. Boult
broke the 63-run partnership.
The fourth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Ravindra
Jadeja, who faced a ball, didn’t open his account. The next ball, Boult ran him
out.
CSK scored 200 off 19.4 overs (122 balls). SRH had
conceded 15 extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras
they eventually conceded.
McCullum’s ton – which included seven boundaries and nine sixes
– came off 56 balls. He was unbeaten, as was Dwayne Bravo, who didn’t face a
ball.
CSK scored 209 for the loss of four wickets off 20 overs.
Parvez Rasool, who bowled a wicketless overs, conceded 11.
Ishant, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 46.
Karn Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Bopara bowled four
wicketless overs apiece. They conceded 51, 31, and 29, respectively.
Boult, who bowled four overs, conceded 34. He picked up a
wicket.

Warner’s half-century – which included a boundary and three
sixes – came off 41 balls.
He eventually scored 53 off 42 balls. Twenty balls after
Naman’s dismissal, he was caught by Dwayne Smith. Ishwar Pandey broke the
23-run stand.
Bopara, whose 11-ball innings included a couple of sixes,
scored 15. Eleven balls later, Bravo broke the 22-run stand.
Williamson, whose 18-ball innings included a four and a
six, scored 18. He was unbeaten.
SRH scored 150 off 18.5 overs (113 balls). CSK had
conceded 11 extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras
they eventually conceded.
Karn, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored four. Fourteen
balls after Bopara’s dismissal, he was caught by Raina. Bravo broke the 14-run
stand.
Rasool, who faced a couple of balls, scored as many. He
was unbeaten.
SRH, who scored 164 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets
off 20 overs, lost by 45 runs.
Jadeja, who bowled an over, conceded 17. He was
wicketless, as was Ashish Nehra, who bowled three overs, conceding 31.
Ishwar, who bowled three overs, conceded 26. He picked up
a wicket, as did Ashwin, who bowled four overs, conceding 22.
Mohit and Bravo bowled four overs each, picking up a
couple of scalps apiece. While the former conceded 36, the latter conceded 25.
