Binny, Rahul Tewatia, and Vikramjeet Malik made way for Abhishek Nayar, Ankit, and
Dhawal Kulkarni.
On winning the toss, Rohit Sharma, MI’s skipper, chose to
field.
The first Powerplay of RR’s innings – which was the
mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored
35, and lost a wicket.
Shane Watson, RR’s skipper, scored eight off 18 balls,
which included a boundary. Thirty-three balls into the match, he was caught by
Kieron Pollard. Harbhajan Singh broke the 34-run stand.
RR scored 50 off 8.5 overs (53 balls). MI had conceded a
couple of extras at that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 37 balls. While Sanju
Samson’s contribution to the partnership was 19, Karun Nair’s contribution to
it was 30. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.
Samson’s half-century – which included five boundaries and
a couple of sixes – came off 36 balls.
RR scored 100 off 12.4 overs (76 balls). MI had conceded three

Nair’s half-century – which included seven boundaries and

Brad Hodge, whose 16-ball innings included a couple of
boundaries and a six, scored 29. He was unbeaten.

James Faulkner, whose 12-ball innings included three
sixes, scored 23. Twenty-six balls after Samson’s dismissal, he was caught by
Anderson. Pollard broke the 49-run stand.
Kevon Cooper, who did not face a ball, was unbeaten.
MI eventually conceded five extras. RR scored 189 for the
loss of four wickets at that point.
Anderson, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 14. He was
wicketless, as was Pragyan Ojha, who bowled four overs, conceding 31.
Gopal and Pollard bowled three overs each, picking up a
wicket apiece. While the former conceded 36, the latter conceded 33.
Harbhajan and Bumrah bowled four overs each, picking up a
wicket apiece. While the former conceded 43, the latter, whose spell included a
maiden, conceded 30.

Although his three-ball innings included a six, Pollard
had no reason to be in seventh heaven – four balls later, he was caught by Hodge.
Cooper broke the eight-run stand.
MI scored 100 off 8.4 overs (52 balls). RR had conceded five
extras at that point.
Rohit, whose 11-ball innings included a boundary and a six,
scored 16. Twenty-six balls after Pollard’s dismissal, he was caught by Nair. Kulkarni
broke the 47=run stand.
Anderson’s half-century – which included three boundaries
and five sixes – came off 25 balls.
MI scored 150 off 11.3 overs (69 balls). The number of
extras they had conceded at that point gave RR no reason to be in seventh
heaven. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.
The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 17 balls. While Anderson’s
contribution to the partnership was 33, Ambati Rayudu’s contribution to it was 18.
Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.
The fifth-wicket pair eventually put on 81. Rayudu, whose
10-ball innings included five boundaries and a six, eventually scored 30.
Thirty-one balls after Rohit’s dismissal, Nair and Samson ran him out.
Anderson, whose 44-ball innings included nine boundaries
and half-a-dozen sixes, eventually scored 95. He was unbeaten, as was Aditya
Tare, who faced a ball, scored half-a-dozen.
MI, who scored 195 for the loss of five wickets off 14.4
overs, won by five wickets with 32 balls to spare.
Watson and Pravin Tambe bowled a couple of overs apiece.
While the former conceded 33, the latter conceded 25. They were wicketless, as
was Faulkner, who bowled 3.4 overs, conceding 54.
Kulkarni, who bowled three overs, conceded 42. He picked
up a couple of scalps, as did Cooper, who bowled four overs, conceding 38.
