Delhi disappointed; Ganguly-led KKR win

KKR made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Umar Gul and Murali Kartik made way for Iqbal Abdulla and Shoaib Akhtar, the player of the match.

DD made one change to their playing eleven – Dinesh Karthik made way for Manoj Tiwary.

On winning the toss, Sourav Ganguly, KKR’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of KKR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 35, and lost a wicket.

Aakash Chopra, whose 17-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 13. Half-a-dozen balls into the match, he was caught by Farveez Maharoof. Pradeep Sangwan broke the 35-run stand.

Although his four-ball innings included a six, Ganguly had no reason to be in seventh heaven – five balls later, Yo Mahesh broke the 12-run stand.

KKR scored 50 off 7.2 overs (45 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave DD no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Salman Butt, whose 44-ball innings included seven boundaries, scored 48. Thirty-eight balls after Ganguly’s dismissal, he was caught by McGrath. Yo Mahesh broke the 40-run stand.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 12. Tatenda Taibu, who faced nine balls, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 15 balls later, Tillakaratne Dilshan and A B de Villiers ran him out.

KKR scored 100 off 15.5 overs (96 balls). DD had conceded 10 extras at that point.

Laxmi Ratan Shukla, whose eight-ball innings included a boundary, scored 10. Fourteen balls after Taibu’s dismissal, he was caught by Gautam Gambhir. Maharoof broke the 20-run stand.

David Hussey, whose run-a-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 31. Seven balls later, he was caught by Tiwary. Maharoof broke the 10-run stand.

Wriddhiman, who faced Saha balls, scored five. He was unbeaten, as was Abdulla, who faced a couple of balls, scoring a run.

DD eventually conceded 11 extras. KKR scored 133 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off 20 overs.

Virender Sehwag, DD’s skipper, bowled a wicketless over. He had no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Amit Mishra, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 13.

McGrath, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 22.

Sangwan, who bowled four overs, conceded 29. He picked up a wicket.

Yo Mahesh and Maharoof bowled four overs each, picking up a couple of scalps apiece. While the former conceded 34, the latter conceded 25.

Sehwag, who faced a ball, didn’t get off the mark. A couple of balls into the chase, he was caught by Saha. Akhtar broke the two-run stand.

Although his innings included a couple of boundaries, Gambhir, who scored 10, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 14 balls later, he was caught by Hussey. Akhtar broke the 15-run stand.

De Villiers, who faced a dozen balls, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 10 balls later, he was caught by Taibu. Akhtar broke the 11-run stand.

The fourth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Although his innings included a couple of boundaries, Tiwary, who scored nine, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – the next ball, he was trapped leg before wicket by Akhtar.

Although his 10-ball innings included a boundary, Dhawan had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 18 balls later, Ashok Dinda broke the 15-run stand.

DD scored 50 off eight overs (48 balls). KKR had conceded three extras at that point.

The sixth-wicket pair put on 24. Dilshan, whose 19-ball innings included five boundaries, scored 25. Twenty-two balls after Dhawan’s dismissal, Shukla and Saha ran him out.

DD scored 100 off 15.4 overs (94 balls). KKR had conceded three extras at that point.

The seventh-wicket pair put on 34. Maharoof, who faced a dozen balls, scored 10. Twenty-nine balls after Dilshan’s dismissal, Dinda ran him out.

Mishra, whose 32-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 31. Eight balls later, he was caught by Ishant Sharma. Shukla broke the four-run stand.

The ninth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Sangwan, who faced a ball, didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was caught by Hussey off the bowling of Shukla.

Yo Mahesh, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored three. A couple of balls later, Shukla broke the five-run stand.

McGrath, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.

KKR eventually conceded eight extras. DD, who were dismissed for 110 off 17.5 overs, lost by 23 runs.

Abdulla and Sharma bowled three wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 22, the latter conceded 18.

Ganguly, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 23.

Dinda, who bowled four overs, conceded 29. He picked up a wicket.

Shukla, who bowled five balls, conceded half-a-dozen. He picked up three wickets.

Akhtar, who bowled three overs, conceded 11. He picked up four scalps.
