Yuvraj-led KXIP beat Bangalore again

KXIP made a couple of changes to their playinG(o)eleven – Karan and Ramnaresh Sarwan made way for Luke Pomersbach and Tanmay Srivastava.

RCB made one change to their playing eleven – Shivnarine Chanderpaul made way for Misbah-ul-Haq.

On winning the toss, Rahul Dravid, RCB’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 50, and lost three wickets.

Jagadeesh Arunkumar, who faced three balls, scored a run. Thirteen balls into the match, he was caught by Mahela Jayawardene. Sreesanth broke the four-run stand.

Misbah, whose eight-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 21. Seventeen balls later, he was out hit wicket. Sreesanth broke the 32-run stand.

Virat Kohli, whose 22-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 21. Three balls (Chaw)later, Piyush broke the 13-run stand.

RCB scored 50 off 5.4 overs (34 balls). KXIP had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

Cameron White, who faced 14 balls, scored 10. Twenty-eight balls after Kohli’s dismissal, he was caught by Chawla, who broke the 25-run stand.

RCB scored 100 off 14.3 overs (87 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave KXIP no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Dravid, whose 26-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 29. Twenty-nine balls after White’s dismissal, Irfan Pathan broke the 28-run stand.

Praveen Kumar had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored five. Fourteen balls later, Sreesanth broke the 21-run stand.

Vinay Kumar, who faced three balls, scored a run. Half-a-dozen balls later, V R V Singh broke the run-a-ball stand.

The eighth-wicket pair put on 10. Mark Boucher, whose 32-ball innings included four boundaries and a six, scored 32. Nine balls later, Chawla and Uday Kaul ran him out.

Zaheer Khan, who faced four balls, scored a run. He was unbeaten, as did Anil Kumble, who faced a ball, failing to open his account.

KXIP eventually conceded 15 extras. RCB scored 143 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs.

James Hopes and Yuvraj Singh, KXIP’s skipper, bowled a couple of wicketless overs. While the former conceded 22, the latter conceded 14.

Pathan and V R V bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former, whose spell included a maiden, conceded 23, the latter conceded 15.

Chawla, who bowled four overs, conceded 33. He picked up a couple of wickets.

Sreesanth, who bowled four overs, conceded 29. He picked up three scalps.

The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 42, without the loss of a wicket.

Hopes, whose 19-ball innings included three sixes, scored 27. Thirty-eight balls into the chase, he was caught by Dale Steyn. Vinay broke the 42-run stand.

KXIP scored 50 off 7.3 overs (45 balls). RCB had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Shaun Marsh, the player of match, scored 50 off 35 balls, which included five boundaries and a couple of sixes.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 29 balls. While Marsh’s contribution to the partnership was 37, Pomersbach’s contribution to it was eight. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was five.

KXIP scored 100 off 11.4 overs (70 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave RCB no reason to be in seventh heaven.

The second-wicket pair put on 100 off 53 balls. While Marsh’s contribution to the partnership was 60, Pomersbach’s contribution to it was 33. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was seven.

Marsh, whose 51-ball innings included nine boundaries, in addition to the aforementioned number of sixes, eventually scored 74. He was unbeaten, as was Pomersbach, who eventually scored 34. His 24-ball innings included three boundaries and a couple of sixes.

RCB eventually conceded nine extras. KXIP, who scored 144 for the loss of a wicket off 15.4 overs, won by nine wickets with 26 balls to spare.

Kohli, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded nine.

Steyn, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 33.

Praveen, who bowled 2.4 wicketless overs, conceded 15.

Kumble and Khan bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 36, the latter conceded 35.
