DC made a couple of Cha(minda)nges to their playing eleven – Scott Styris and Pragyan Ojha made way for Arjun Yadav and Vaas.
RCB made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Mark Boucher and
Praveen Kumar made way for Wasim Jaffer and Cameron White.
On winning the toss, Adam Gilchrist, DC’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay –
was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 41, without the loss of a
wicket.
DC’s openers put on 50 off 6.4 overs (40 balls). RCB had conceded nine
extras at that point. While Gilchrist’s contribution to the partnership was 19,
Herschelle Gibbs’ contribution to it was 22.
DC’s openers put on 100 off 11 overs (66 balls). RCB had conceded nine
extras at that point. While Gilchrist’s contribution to the partnership was 45,
Gibbs’ contribution to it was 47.
Gibbs, whose 34-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and a
couple of sixes, didn’t add to the aforementioned score. Sixty-eight balls into
the match, he was stumped by Shreevats Goswami. Anil Kumble broke the 101-run
partnership.
Gilchrist, whose 37-ball innings included four boundaries and a couple
of sixes, eventually scored 46. Seven balls later, he was caught by Balachandra
Akhil. Vinay Kumar, the player of the match, broke the eight-run stand.
The third-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Chamara Silva, who faced
a couple of balls, didn’t open his account. Five balls later, he was caught by
Goswami off the bowling of Virat Kohli.
Rohit Sharma, whose 16-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored 17. Ten balls later, he was caught by Dale Steyn. Vinay broke the 14-run
stand.
DC scored 150 off 17.1 overs (104 balls). RCB had conceded a dozen extras
at that point.
Although their run-a-ball innings included a boundary, Dwaraka Ravi Teja
had a reason to be in seventh heaven – 15 balls after Sharma’s dismissal, Kohli
broke the 28-run stand.
Venugopal Rao, whose 12-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and
as many sixes, scored 26. Five balls later, he was caught by Jaffer. Vinay
broke the 13-run stand.
The seventh-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Sanjay Bangar didn’t face
a ball. The next ball, Vinay ran him out.
The eighth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Vaas, who faced three
balls, didn’t open his account. Five balls later, Goswami ran him out.
Yadav, whose run-a-ball innings included a six, scored eight. A couple
of balls later, he was caught by the substitute, Bharat Chipli. Steyn broke the
one-run stand.
The last-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Rudra Pratap Singh, who
faced three balls, scored a run. A couple of balls later, he was dismissed by
Steyn.
Paidikalva Vijaykumar, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.

Jacques Kallis bowled eight balls, conceded 19. He was wicketless, as
was Akhil, who bowled three overs, conceding 39.
Kumble bowled four overs, conceding 33. He picked up a wicket.
Kohli bowled 3.4 overs, conceding 25. He picked up a couple of wickets,
as was Steyn, who bowled four overs, conceding 19.
Vinay bowled four overs, conceding 27. He picked up three scalps.

Rahul Dravid, RCB’s skipper, scored 31. His 21-ball innings included
three boundaries and a six. Twenty-eight balls after Misbah’s dismissal, he was
caught by Gilchrist. Bangar broke the 40-run stand.
White, whose 23-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of sixes,
scored 31. He was unbeaten.
Kohli, whose five-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored
nine. Nine balls after Dravid’s dismissal, he was caught by Ravi Teja. Vaas
broke the 22-run stand.
RCB scored 150 off 17.5 overs (107 balls). DC had conceded three extras
at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
Akhil, whose innings included a couple of boundaries and three sixes, scored
27. He had a reason to be in seventh heaven – he was unbeaten.
RCB, who scored 171 for the loss of five wickets off 19 overs, won by
five wickets with an over to spare.
Silva and Rao bowled a wicketless over apiece. While the former conceded
21, the latter conceded 18.
Rudra Pratap bowled three wicketless overs, conceding 15.
Vijaykumar bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 29.
Ravi Teja bowled two overs, conceding 19. He picked up a wicket, as did Vaas
and Bangar bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 36, the latter
conceded 30.
