Mumbai dishear‘ten’ed; Laxman-led DC triumph

MI made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Saurabh Tiwary and Harbhajan Singh made way for Ajinkya Rahane and Twenty debutant Siddharth Chitnis.

DC made one Cha(minda)nge to their playing eleven – Vaas made way for his compatriot Nuwan Zoysa.

On winning the toss, V V S Laxman, DC’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of MI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 27, and lost three wickets.

Luke Ronchi, whose 11-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 13. Fourteen balls into the match, he was caught by Laxman. Rudra Pratap Singh broke the 15-run stand.

Rahane (Oj)had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he didn’t get off the mark. Nine balls later, he was caught by Pragyan. Sanjay Bangar broke the three-run stand.

Dwayne Bravo, whose 18-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 34. Twenty-one balls after Nayar’s dismissal, he was caught by Ojha. Singh broke the 32-run stand.

Although his innings included a boundary, Musavir Khote, who was unbea‘ten’, had no reason to be in seventh heaven.

DC eventually conceded 11 extras. MI won 154 for the loss of seven wickets off 20 overs.

Doddapaneni Kalyankrishna and Ojha bowled two wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 23, the latter conceded 14.

Gilchrist, whose 47-ball innings included the aforementioned number of boundaries, in addition to 10 sixes, didn’t add to the aforementioned score. He was unbeaten, as was Laxman, who eventually scored 37. His 26-ball innings included four boundaries and a six.

DC, who scored 155 without the loss of a wicket off 12 overs, won by 10 wickets with eight overs to spare.
