Yuvraj-led KXIP leave Delhi disappointed

KXIP made a couple of (Kati)changes to their playing eleven – Ramnaresh Sarwan and Sunny Sohal made way for Simon, the player of the match, and Tanmay Srivastava.

DD made no changes to their playing eleven.

On winning the toss, Virender Sehwag, DD’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of DD’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 45, and lost three wickets.

Sehwag, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored half-a-dozen. Ten balls into the match, he was trapped leg before wicket by Irfan Pathan, who broke the 11-run stand.

Shikhar Dhawan, who faced three balls, didn’t get off the (Ku)mark. Five balls later, he was caught by Sangakkara. Brett Lee broke the one-run stand.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 28 balls. While Katich’s contribution to the partnership was 35, Jayawardene’s contribution to it was 14. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

Jayawardene, whose 14-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, eventually scored 15. Thirty-five balls after Sangakkara’s dismissal, he was caught by Malik, who broke the 58-run partnership.
