RR made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Kamran Akmal and
Pankaj Singh made way for Mahesh Rawat and Sohail Tanvir.
On winning the toss, Shane Warne, RR’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 57, and lost a couple
of wickets.
Rahul Dravid, RCB’s skipper, faced a ball, failing to get off the mark.
A couple of balls into the match, he was caught by Ravindra Jadeja. Shane
Watson, the player of the match, broke the one-run stand.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who faced nine balls, scored a couple. A dozen
balls later, he was caught by Jadeja. Watson broke the 15-run stand.
RCB scored 50 off 5.5 overs (35 balls). RR had conceded a couple of extras
at that point.
Jacques Kallis, whose 10-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored (Pat)eleven. Twenty-five balls after Chanderpaul’s (Trive)dismissal, he
was caught by Munaf. Siddharth broke the 43-run stand.
Ross Taylor, whose 20-ball innings included half-a-dozen balls and three
sixes, scored 44. Five balls later, he was caught by Graeme Smith. Patel broke
the six-run stand.
Virat Kohli, whose 14-ball innings included a six, scored 13. Fourteen
balls later, he was caught by Rawat. Patel broke the 12-run stand.
Mark Boucher, who faced 10 balls, scored just four. A dozen balls later,
he was caught by Rawat. Patel broke the one-run stand.
The seventh-wicket pair put on a dozen. Sunil Joshi, who faced eight
balls, scored just three. Fourteen balls later, Rawat and Tanvir ran him out.

The eighth-wicket pair put on 41. Praveen Kumar, whose 30-ball innings
included a couple of boundaries and three sixes, scored 34. Thirty-two balls
after Joshi’s dismissal, Rawat and Watson ran him out.
Zaheer Khan, whose 18-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored 17. He was unbeaten, as was Vinay Kumar, who faced a ball, scoring a

RR eventually conceded half-a-dozen extras. RCB scored 135 for the loss

Yusuf Pathan, who bowled an over, conceded 10. He was wicketless, as was
Tanvir, who bowled four overs, conceding 31.

While the former conceded 29, the latter, whose spell including a maiden, conceded

to the partnership was a couple.

at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
Watson’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and a
couple of sixes – came off 34 balls.
The third-wicket pair put on 100 off 73 balls. While Smith’s
contribution to the partnership was 40, Watson’s contribution to it was 57.

Smith, whose 42-ball innings included eight boundaries, eventually
scored 49. Seventy-six balls after Pathan’s dismissal, he was caught by Kumble.
Joshi broke the 104-run partnership.
Watson, whose 41-ball innings included eight boundaries, in addition to
the aforementioned number of sixes, eventually scored 61. He was unbeaten, as
was Mohammad Kaif, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scoring four. His runs came by
way of a boundary.
RR, who scored 138 for the loss of three wickets off 17.1 overs, won by
seven wickets with 17 balls to spare.
Kallis had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he bowled a wicketless
over.
Vinay, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 15.
The (Kumb)leggie, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 22.
Praveen, who bowled three overs, conceded 42. He picked up a wicket.
Joshi, who bowled 3.1 overs, conceded 27. He picked up a wicket.
Khan, who bowled four overs, conceded 24. He picked up a wicket.
