KKR made one change to their playing eleven – Wriddhiman Saha made way for Debabrata Das.
MI made three changes to their playing eleven – Luke Ronchi, Musavir
Khote and Siddharth Chitnis made way for Manish Pandey, Dilhara Fernando and
Pinal Shah.
On winning the toss, Sourav Ganguly, KKR’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of KKR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 40, and lost three
wickets.
Ganguly, who faced a couple of balls, scored four. His runs came by way
of a boundary. Three balls into the match, he was caught by Sanath Jayasuriya,
the player of the match. Shaun Pollock, MI’s skipper, broke the five-run stand.
Brendon McCullum, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. Two balls
later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Pollock, who broke the one-run
stand.
Das, whose 20-ball (Rob)innings included five boundaries and a six,
scored 29. Twenty-eight balls later, he was caught by Uthappa. Dwayne Br(av)oke
the 34-run stand.
KKR scored 50 off 8.1 overs (49 balls). MI had conceded five extras at
that point.
David Hussey, whose 20-ball innings included three boundaries, scored
17. Thirty-three balls after Das’ dismissal, he was caught by Ashish Nehra, who
was celebrating his 29th birthday. Jayasuriya broke the 34-run
stand.
The fifth-wicket pair put on three. Ricky Ponting, whose 31-ball innings
included a boundary, scored 19. Ajinkya Rahane and Jayasuriya had a reason to
be in seventh heaven – they ran him out.
The sixth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Mohammad Hafeez, who
faced half-a-dozen balls, scored a couple. A couple of balls later, he was
caught by Shah off the bowling of Jayasuriya.
Laxmi Ratan Shukla, whose 22-ball innings included four boundaries and a
couple of sixes, scored 40. He was unbeaten.
Ajit Agarkar, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored a couple. Twelve balls
later, he was caught by Nehra. Jayasuriya broke the 13-run stand.
KKR scored 100 off 17 overs (102 balls). The number of extras they had
conceded at that point gave MI no reason to be in seventh heaven.
Murali Kartik, whose 11-ball innings included a boundary, scored 10.
Twenty-four balls after Agarkar’s dismissal, he was caught by Jayasuriya.
Fernando broke the 41-run stand.
Ishant Sharma, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.
MI eventually conceded 13 extras. KKR scored 137 for the loss of eight
wickets off 20 overs.
Nehra, who bowled an over, conceded nine. He was wicketless, as was
Dhawal Kulkarni, who bowled three overs, conceding 15.
Fernando and Bravo bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece.
While the former conceded 41, the latter conceded 25.
Pollock, who bowled four overs, conceded 27. He picked up a couple of
wickets.
Jayasuriya bowled four overs, including a maiden. He conceded 14,
picking up three scalps.

scored 18. Half-a-dozen balls later, Sharma broke the nine-run stand.
The third-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Pandey, who faced three
balls, didn’t open his account. Three balls later, he was dismissed by Ashok
Dinda.
MI scored 50 off 8.1 overs (49 balls). KKR had conceded eight extras at
that point.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 41 balls. While Uthappa’s
contribution to the partnership was 20, Bravo’s contribution to it was 19.

MI scored 100 off 13.1 overs (79 balls). KKR had conceded 14 extras at
that point.
Bravo’s half-century – which included seven boundaries and a six – came
off 42 balls.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 100 off 74 balls. While Uthappa’s
contribution to the partnership was 35, Bravo’s contribution to it was 53.
Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a dozen.
Uthappa, whose run-a-ball innings included five boundaries, eventually
scored 37. He was unbeaten, as was Bravo, who eventually scored 64. His 53-ball
innings included eight boundaries, in addition to the six.
KKR eventually conceded 15 extras. MI, who scored 138 for the loss of
three wickets off 18.4 overs, won by seven wickets with eight balls to spare.
Hafeez and Shukla bowled a wicketless over apiece. While the former
conceded 16, the latter conceded 11.
Ganguly, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 14.
Kartik, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 24.
Sharma, who bowled 3.4 overs, conceded 33. He picked up a wicket, as did
Agarkar and Dinda, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 23,
the latter conceded 12.
