DD made one change to their playing (Dani)eleven – Farveez Maharoof made way for Vettori.
RCB made a couple of their playing eleven – Bharat Chipli and
Balachandra Akhil made way for Vinay Kumar and Sunil Joshi.
On winning the toss, Rahul Dravid, RCB’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of DD’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 58, and lost a wicket.
DD scored 50 off 4.3 overs (27 balls). RCB had conceded three extras at
that point. While Gautam Gambhir’s contribution to the partnership was 26, the contribution
of Virender Sehwag, DD’s skipper, to it was 23.
DD’s openers eventually scored 53. Sehwag, whose 12-ball innings included
three boundaries and a six, eventually scored 24. Five overs into the match,
Ross Taylor ran him out.
DD scored 100 off 10.3 overs (63 balls). RCB had conceded three extras
at that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 37 balls. While Gambhir’s contribution
to the partnership was 20, Shikhar Dhawan’s contribution to it was 30. Extras didn’t
contribute to the partnership.
While Gambhir’s half-century – which included seven boundaries – came off
36 balls, Dhawan’s half-century – which included four boundaries and three
sixes – came off 32 balls.
DD scored 150 off 14.4 overs (88 balls). RCB had conceded three extras
at that point.
Dhawan, who faced 33 balls, failed to add to the aforementioned score.
Ten overs after Sehwag’s dismissal, he was Dravid. Jacques Kallis broke the
98-run partnership.
Shoaib Malik, whose four-ball innings included a boundary, scored
half-a-dozen. Dale Steyn had a reason to be in seventh heaven – he broke the
eight-run stand.
Dinesh Karthik, who faced four balls, scored a couple. Half-a-dozen
balls later, Kallis broke the eight-run stand.
Gambhir, whose 54-ball innings included 11 boundaries and a six, eventually
scored 86. Seven balls later, he was caught by Praveen Kumar. Zaheer Khan broke
the 12-run stand.
Manoj Tiwary, whose nine-ball innings included a boundary, scored 11. He
was unbeaten, as was Rajat Bhatia, who scored eight. His five-ball innings
included a boundary.
RCB eventually conceded four extras. DD scored 191 for the loss of five
wickets off 20 overs.
Joshi and Virat Kohli bowled a wicketless over apiece. While the former
conceded 19, the latter conceded 11.
Vinay Kumar, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 25.
Praveen, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 24.
Khan and Steyn bowled four overs each, picked up a wicket apiece. While
the former conceded 42, the latter conceded 29.
Kallis, who bowled four overs, conceded 39. He picked up a couple of
scalps.

Jaffer, whose nine-ball innings included a six, scored 10. Four balls
later, he was caught by Yo Mahesh. McGrath broke the two-run stand.
RCB scored 50 off 5.4 overs (34 balls). DD had conceded a couple of extras
at that point.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 38 balls. While Kallis’ contribution
to the partnership was 21, Dravid’s contribution to it was 27. Extras’ contribution
to the partnership was a couple.
RCB scored 100 off 11.4 overs (71 balls). DD had conceded four extras at
that point.
Dravid, whose 30-ball innings included four boundaries and a six,
eventually scored 38. Sixty-three balls after Jaffer’s dismissal, he was caught
by Sehwag. McGrath broke the 87-run partnership.
RCB scored 150 off 17.3 overs (106 balls). DD had conceded 12 extras at
that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.
Kallis’ half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and a six –
came off 40 balls.
He faced 44 balls, eventually conceding 54. Twenty-one balls after
Dravid’s dismissal, Vettori broke the 27-run stand.
Mark Boucher, whose 17-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and
as many sixes, scored 31. He was unbeaten, as was Kohli, who faced a ball,
scoring a run.
RCB, who scored 181 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs, lost by
10 runs.
Bhatia and Malik bowled a wicketless over apiece. While the former conceded
14, the latter conceded eight.
Sehwag, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 30.
Mohammad Asif and Mahesh bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the
former conceded 42, the latter conceded 28.
Vettori, who bowled four overs, conceded 19. He picked up a wicket.
McGrath, who bowled four overs, conceded 29. He picked up four scalps.
