MI made three changes to their playing eleven – Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan and Zaheer Khan made way for Saurabh Tiwary, Rohan Raje and Lasith Malinga.
DC made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – V V S Laxman and
Pragyan Ojha made way for Dwaraka Ravi Teja and Harmeet Singh.
On winning the toss, Adam Gilchrist, DC’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the
mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 37,
and lost a couple of wickets.
Herschelle Gibbs, who faced five balls, didn’t get
off the mark. Ten ballS(ach)into the match, he was caught by Tendulkar. Dhawal
Kulkarni broke the eight-run stand.
Tirumalasetti Suman, whose 13-ball innings included
a boundary and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 20. Twenty-three balls
later, he was caught by Pinal Shah. Dwayne Br(av)oke the 29-run stand.
DC scored 50 off 7.3 overs (45 balls). MI had
conceded five extras at that point.
Gilchrist, whose 29-ball innings included a couple
of boundaries and a six, scored 25. Twenty-five balls after Suman’s dismissal, Raje
broke the run-a-ball stand.
Ten overs into the match, the drinks break was taken. DC had scored 63 for
the loss of three wickets at that point. While Rohit, the player of the (Shar)match,
had scored a dozen, Dwayne Smith had scored a run.
Smith, whose 16-ball innings included a boundary
and a six, scored eventually a dozen. Twenty balls later, Sanath Jayasuriya
broke the 23-run stand.
DC scored 100 off 15.3 overs (93 balls). MI had
conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.
Sharma, whose 36-ball innings included a couple of
boundaries and a six, eventually scored 38. Twenty-five balls after Smith’s
dismissal, he was caught by Bravo. Malinga broke the 33-run stand.
The sixth-wicket pair put on 19. Venugopal Rao,
whose 17-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, eventually scored
28. A dozen balls later, Bravo and Shah ran him out.
Teja and Ryan Harris, who faced four balls apiece, were
unbeaten. While the former conceded four, the latter conceding five.
MI eventually conceded nine extras. DC scored 145
for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off 20 overs.
Harbhajan Singh, who bowled a couple of wicketless
overs, conceded 23.
Raje and Bravo bowled three overs each, picking up
a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 25, the latter conceded 16.
Jayasuriya, Malinga and Kulkarni bowled four overs
each, picking up a scalp apiece. They conceded 31, 24, and 21, respectively.
The first Powerplay of MI’s innings – which was the

Although his innings included a boundary,
Jayasuriya had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just five. Ten
balls into the chase, he was caught by Harris. Needless to say, Rudra Pratap
Singh was in seventh heaven.
The second-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Tendulkar,
who faced four balls, scored a couple. The next ball, he was dismissed by Rudra
Pratap.
MI scored 50 off seven overs (42 balls). DC had
conceded a couple of extras at that point.
The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 37 balls. While
Shah’s contribution to the partnership was 29, Jean-Paul Duminy’s contribution to
it was 21. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.
Shah, whose 19-ball innings included three boundaries
and a couple of sixes, didn’t add to the aforementioned score. Forty-two balls
after Tendulkar’s dismissal, he was caught by Smith. Suman broke the 53-run partnership.
Ten overs into the chase, the drinks break was taken. MI had scored 71 for
the loss of three wickets at that point. While Duminy had scored 29, Bravo was
batting on four.
Bravo, who faced 16 balls, eventually scored 13. Thirty-two
balls later, he was caught by Harris. Suman broke the 37-run stand.
MI scored 100 off 15 overs (90 balls). DC had
conceded a couple of extras at that point.
Nayar, who faced four balls, scored (Abhish)ek.
Ten balls after Bravo’s dismissal, Sharma broke the six-run stand.
The sixth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark.
Harbhajan, who faced a ball, didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was
dismissed by Sharma.
Duminy’s half-century – which included seven
boundaries – came off 45 balls.
He eventually scored 52 off 48 balls. Seven balls after
Harbhajan’s dismissal, he was caught by Gilchrist. Sharma completed his hat-trick,
breaking the five-run stand.
Tiwary, who faced five balls, scored three. A couple
of balls later, he was (Gilchri)stumped. Sharma broke the one-run stand.
Raje, whose seven-ball innings included a six,
scored 11. He was unbeaten, as was Kulkarni, who faced five balls, scoring
seven.
DC eventually conceded three extras. MI, who scored
126 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs, lost by 19 runs.
Smith, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded 13.
Shoaib Ahmed, who bowled a couple of wicketless
overs, conceded 19.
Harmeet, who bowled three wicketless overs,

Harris, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded

Rudra Pratap and Suman, who bowled four overs each,
picking up two wickets apiece. While the former conceded 19, the latter conceded
