Gilchrist-led DC beat Rajasthan comfortably

RR made a couple of changes to their playing (Mork)eleven – Shane Harwood and Amit Singh made way for Morne and Munaf Patel.

DC made a couple of Cha(minda)nges to their playing eleven – Herschelle Gibbs and Ryan Harris made way for Dwayne Smith (the player of the match) and Vaas.

On winning the toss, Adam Gilchrist, DC’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 42, and lost a couple of wickets.

Gilchrist, whose 11-ball innings included a six, scored 10. Twenty-one balls into the match, he was trapped leg before wicket by Yusuf Pathan, who broke the run-a-ball stand.

Tirumalasetti, whose 19-ball innings included three boundarieS(um)and a six, scored 29. Fourteen balls later, he was caught by Lee Carseldine. Siddharth Trivedi broke the 21-run stand.

DC scored 50 off 6.4 overs (40 balls). RR had conceded an extra at that point.

Rohit Sharma, who faced 14 balls, scored nine. Twenty-two balls after Suman’s dismissal, he was stumped by Naman Ojha. Ravindra Jadeja broke the 28-run stand.

Ten overs into the match, the drinks break was taken. DC had scored 77 for the loss of three wickets at that point. While Andrew Symonds had scored 27, Dwayne Smith had scored a run.

Symonds, whose 19-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, eventually scored 30. A dozen balls after Sharma’s dismissal, Jadeja broke the 13-run stand.

DC scored 100 off 14.2 overs (86 balls). RR had conceded a couple of extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Vaas, whose 15-ball innings included a six, scored 20. Twenty-nine balls after Symonds’ dismissal, he was caught by Carseldine. Pathan broke the 37-run stand.

DC scored 150 off 18.2 overs (110 balls).

Although his innings included a couple of boundaries, Venugopal Rao had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored a dozen. Fourteen balls after Vaas’ dismissal, he was caught by Jadeja. Shane Warne, RR’s skipper, broke the 35-run stand.

Dwayne, whose 32-ball innings included four sixes, eventually scored 47. Seven balls later, he was caught by Abhishek Raut. Pathan broke the nine-run stand.

Dwaraka Ravi Teja, whose three-ball innings included a boundary, had a reason to be in seventh heaven – he was unbeaten, as was Rudra Pratap Singh, who did not face a ball.

DC scored 166 for the loss of seven wickets off 20 overs.

Raut and Patel bowled a wicketless over apiece. While the former conceded 13, the latter conceded three.

Morkel, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 20.

Trivedi, who bowled three overs, conceded 33. He picked up a wicket, as did Warne, who bowled four overs, conceding 36.

Jadeja, who bowled four overs, conceded 26. He picked up a couple of wickets.

Pathan, who bowled four overs, conceded 34. He picked up three scalps.

The third-wicket pair put on 24. Naman, whose 14-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 16. Twenty-four balls later, Ravi Teja ran him out.

RR scored 50 off 8.5 overs (53 balls). DC had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Ten overs into the chase, the drinks break was taken. RR had scored 59 for the loss of three wickets at that point. While Swapnil Asnodkar had scored 27, Pathan had scored four.

Pathan had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored half-a-dozen. Twenty-one balls after Naman’s dismissal, he was caught by Dwayne. Pragyan Ojha broke the 31-run stand.

The fifth-wicket pair put on nine. Asnodkar, whose 39-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and a six, eventually scored 44. Eleven balls later, Rao and Gilchrist ran him out.

Raut, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. Three balls later, Sharma broke the two-run stand.

Morkel, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight. Ten balls later, he was caught by Ravi Teja. Sharma broke the 11-run stand.

Warne, who faced a ball, failed to get off the mark. A couple of balls later, Sharma broke the one-run stand.

Trivedi, who faced five balls, scored a run. Five balls later, Singh broke the one-run stand.

RR scored 100 off 17 overs (102 balls). DC had conceded four extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

The last-wicket pair put on 15. Patel, who scored five, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 18 balls after Trivedi’s dismissal, Suman and Gilchrist ran him out.

RR, who were bundled out for 113 off 19.3 overs, lost by 53 runs.

Dwayne, who bowled an over, conceded four. He was wicketless, as was Symonds, who bowled four overs, conceding 30.

Pragyan, who bowled 3.3 overs, conceded 25. He picked up a wicket, as did Singh, who bowled four overs, conceding 22.

Vaas, who bowled four overs, conceded 19. He picked up a couple of wickets.
