RCB made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Roelof van der Merwe and Abhimanyu Mithun made way for Jesse Ryder and Balachandra Akhil.
KKR made four changes to their playing eleven – the
Australian pair (Brad Hodge and Moises Henriques), Morne van Wyk and Sourav
Sarkar made way for Arindam Ghosh, David Hussey and a pair of Sri Lankans
(Angelo Mathews and Ajantha Mendis).
On winning the toss, Anil Kumble, RCB’s skipper, chose
to field.
The first Powerplay of KKR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 38, and lost a couple
of wickets.
Sourav Ganguly, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored four. His runs came
by way of a boundary. Fifteen balls into the match, he was caught by Mark
Boucher. Vinay Kumar broke the 13-run stand.
Although his run-a-ball innings included a boundary, Arindam Ghosh had
no reason to be in seventh heaven – 11 balls later, he was caught by Boucher.
Kumar broke the eight-run stand.
KKR scored 50 off 8.1 overs (49 balls). RCB hadn’t conceded any extras
at that point.
Ten overs into the match, the drinks break was taken. KKR had scored 69
for the loss of a couple of wickets at that point. While Brendon McCullum,
their skipper, had scored 25, Hussey had scored 33.
The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 36 balls. While McCullum’s
contribution to the partnership was 16, Hussey’s contribution to it was 34.
Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.
Hussey, whose 27-ball innings included three boundaries and a couple of
sixes, eventually scored 43. Fifty-four balls after Ghosh’s dismissal, Akhil
broke the 70-run partnership.

extras at that point.
McCullum’s half-century – which included five boundaries and a couple of
sixes – came off 48 balls.
He eventually scored 84 off 64 balls, which included 10 boundaries, in
addition to the aforementioned number of sixes. He was unbeaten.
Mathews, whose 13-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored
16. Twenty-five balls after Hussey’s dismissal, he was caught by Virat Kohli.

KKR scored 150 off 19 overs (114 balls). RCB had conceded half-a-dozen
extras at that point.
Wriddhiman Saha, whose five-ball innings included a six, was unbea‘ten’.

K P Appanna, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded 10.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 23 balls. While Taylor’s
