RCB made no changes to their playing eleven.
RR made five changes to their playing (Micha)eleven – Swapnil Asnodkar,
Graeme Smith, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Amit Uniyal and Shaun Tait made way for
Lumb, Damien Martyn, Sumit Narwal, Morne Morkel and Siddharth Trivedi.
On winning the toss, Anil Kumble, RCB’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of RR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 31, and lost a wicket.
Naman Ojha, whose 18-ball (Rob)innings included a boundary, scored 16.
Thirty-one balls into the match, he was caught by Uthappa. Jacques Kallis, the
player of the match, broke the 27-run stand.
Lumb, whose 18-ball innings included a boundary, scored 10. Seven balls
later, he was stumped by Mark Boucher. Anil Kumble broke the four-run stand.
Although his five-ball innings included a boundary, Abhishek had no
reason to be in seventh heaven – nine balls (Jhunjhunwa)later, Kallis had no
reason to be in seventh heaven.
RR scored 50 off 11.1 overs (68 balls). RCB had conceded four extras at
that point.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 37. Yusuf Pathan, whose 24-ball innings included
a boundary and a couple of sixes, scored 26. Thirty-eight balls after
Jhunjhunwala’s dismissal, Virat Kohli ran him out.
Martyn, whose 24-ball innings included a boundary, scored 19. Thirteen
balls later, Praveen Kumar broke the 10-run stand.
The sixth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Narwal, who faced a ball,
didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was caught by Manish Pandey off the
bowling of Praveen.
The seventh-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Paras Dogra, who faced
nine balls, scored just three. The next ball, Praveen dismissed him, completing
his hat-trick.
Shane Warne had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored four.
Fifteen balls later, Kumble broke the six-run stand.
Morkel, who faced nine balls, scored just a couple. Three balls later,
he was stumped by Boucher. Kumble broke the one-run stand.
The last-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Munaf Patel, who faced a
couple of balls, D(rav)idn’t open his account. The next ball, Rahul and Boucher
ran him out.
Trivedi, who faced a ball, didn’t open his account. He was unbeaten.
The number of extras they eventually conceded gave RCB no reason to be
in seventh heaven. RR were bundled out for 92.
Vinay Kumar and Dale Steyn bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While
the former conceded 25, the latter conceded 18.
Kallis, who bowled four overs, conceded 20. He picked up a couple of wickets.
Kumble, who bowled 3.5 overs, conceded nine. He picked up three scalps,
as was Praveen, who bowled four overs, conceding 18.

a wicket.
RCB’s openers scored 50 off five overs (30 balls). RR had conceded four extras
at that point. While Pandey’s contribution to the partnership was 20, Kallis’ contribution
to it was 28.
Pandey’s and Kallis’ innings included seven boundaries apiece, and both
were unbeaten.
While the former – whose 30-ball innings also included a six – eventually
scored 42, the latter eventually faced 34 balls, scoring 44.
The number of extras they eventually conceded gave RR no reason to be in
seventh heaven. RCB, who scored 93 for the loss of a wicket off 10.4 overs, won
by 10 wickets with 56 balls to spare.
Warne bowled two wicketless overs, conceding 12.
Narwal bowled 2.4 wicketless overs, conceding 24.
Morkel and Patel bowled three wicketless overs apiece. While the former
conceded 34, the latter conceded 23.
