Neither MI nor RCB made any changes to their playing eleven.
On winning the toss, Sachin Tendulkar, MI’s skipper,
chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of MI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 45, and lost a couple
of wickets.
Sanath Jayasuriya, who faced five balls, scored just a couple. Nine
balls into the match, he was trappeD(a)leg before wicket by Steyn, who broke
the six-run stand.
Aditya Tare, whose nine-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored 10. Eighteen balls later, he was caught by Manish Pandey. Jacques Kallis,
the player of the match, broke the 30-run stand.
MI scored 50 off 6.2 overs (38 balls). RCB had conceded nine extras at
that point.
Saurabh Tiwary, whose 21-ball innings included three boundaries, scored
25. Thirty balls after Tare’s dismissal, Anil Kumble, RCB’s skipper, broke the
35-run stand.
Ambati Rayudu, who faced four balls, scored three. Four balls later, he
was caught by Mark Boucher. Vinay Kumar broke the three-run stand.
Tendulkar, whose 22-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 25. A
couple of balls later, Vinay broke the one-run stand.
Dwayne, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. Three balls later, he
was trapped leg before wicket by Vinay, who Br(av)oke the one-run stand.
MI scored 100 off 14.5 overs (89 balls). RCB had conceded 11 extras at
that point.
Kieron Pollard, whose 19-ball innings included a boundary and a six,
scored 21. Thirty-one balls after Bravo’s dismissal, he was caught by Virat
Kohli. Steyn broke the 47-run stand.
Rajagopal Sathish, whose 22-ball innings included three boundaries,
scored 24. Four balls later, he was caught by Rahul Dravid. Steyn broke the
two-run stand.
Harbhajan Singh, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored four. Eight balls
later, he was caught by Kallis. Praveen Kumar broke the 10-run stand.
Zaheer Khan, whose nine-ball innings included three boundaries and a
six, scored 23. He was unbeaten, as was Lasith Malinga, who didn’t face a ball.
MI scored 150 off 20 overs (120 balls). In fact, they scored 151 for the
loss of nine wickets. RCB had conceded 14 extras at that point. That was,
incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.
Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.
Praveen, Kallis and Kumble picked up a wicket apiece. They conceded 37,
35, and 18, respectively.
Steyn and Vinay picked up three scalps apiece. While the former conceded
26, the latter conceded 25.

a wicket.
RCB’s openers put on 50 off 5.3 overs (33 balls). RCB had conceded a
couple of extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras
they eventually conceded. While Pandey’s contribution to the partnership was
22, Kallis’ contribution to it was 28.
Pandey, whose 27-ball innings included three boundaries and a couple of
sixes, scored 40. Fifty-nine balls into the chase, he was caught by Pollard.
Harbhajan broke the 85-run partnership.
Kallis, whose 55-ball innings included 10 boundaries, eventually scored
66. He was unbeaten.
RCB scored 100 off 12 overs (72 balls).
Uthappa, whose 15-ball (Rob)innings included a couple of boundaries and
a six, scored 23. Twenty-eight balls after Pandey’s dismissal, he was caught by
Malinga. Khan broke the 31-run stand.
The third-wicket pair put on 20. Kohli., whose 12-ball innings included
a couple of sixes, scored 17. Fifteen balls later, Pollard ran him out.
Morgan had a reason to bE(o)in seventh heaven – he scored half-a-dozen,
and was unbeaten.
RCB scored 150 off 19 overs (114 balls).
They eventually scored 155 for the loss of three wickets off 19.1 overs,
winning by seven wickets with five balls to spare.
Pollard and Jayasuriya bowled two wicketless overs apiece. While the
former conceded 24, the latter conceded 16.
Bravo, who bowled 3.1 wicketless overs, conceded 35.
Malinga, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 25.
Harbhajan and Khan bowled four overs each, picking up a scalp apiece. While
the former conceded 35, the latter conceded 18.
