Dada stars; KKR trounce Delhi

KKR made four changes to their playing eleven – David Hussey, Murali Kartik, Shane Bond and Jaydev Unadkat made way for Brendon McCullum, Iqbal Abdulla, Ashok Dinda and Ajantha Mendis.

DD made no changes to their playing eleven.

On winning the toss, Sourav Ganguly, KKR’s skipper and the player of the match, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of KKR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 50, without the loss of a wicket.

KKR’s openers scored 50 off half-a-dozen overs (36 balls). KXIP had conceded four extras at that point. While Ganguly’s contribution to the partnership was 32, Chris Gayle’s contribution to it was 14.

Ganguly’s half-century – which included eight boundaries and a six – came off 42 balls.

Gayle, whose 21-ball innings included five boundaries and a couple of sixes, eventually conceded 40. Sixty-two balls into the match, Rajat Bhatia broke the 94-run partnership.

KKR scored 100 off 11 overs (66 balls). KXIP had conceded five extras at that point.

Ganguly, who faced 46 balls, eventually scored 56. Nine balls after Ganguly’s dismissal, Daniel Vettori broke the 10-run stand.

The third-wicket pair had no reason to be in seventh heaven. McCullum, who faced seven balls, scored half-a-dozen. Eight balls later, Bhatia and Vettori ran him out.

KKR scored 150 off 18 overs (108 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave KXIP no reason to be in seventh heaven. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 33 balls. While Manoj Tiwary’s contribution to the partnership was 16, Angelo Mathews’ contribution to it was 36. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

Vettori and Bhatia bowled four overs, conceding 30, each, picking up a scalp apiece.

The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 44, and lost a wicket.

KXIP’s openers D(av)idn’t get off the mark. Warner, who faced five balls, didn’t open his account. Five balls into the chase, he was dismissed by Dinda.

KXIP scored 50 off 6.2 overs (38 balls). KKR had conceded four extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 33 balls. While Virender Sehwag’s contribution to the partnership was 25, the contribution of Gautam Gambhir, DD’s skipper, to it was 21. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was four.

The second-wicket pair put on 99. Gambhir, whose 29-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and a six, eventually scored 47. Fifty-eight balls after Warner’s dismissal, Ganguly ran him out.

KXIP scored 100 off 10.5 overs (65 balls). KKR had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

Collingwood, who faced three balls, scored a couple. Half-a-dozen balls after Gambhir’s (Men)dismissal, he was caught by Mathews. His compatriot broke the four-run stand.

Sehwag’s half-century – which included five boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 34 balls.

Sehwag, whose 40-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and three sixes, eventually scored 64. Twenty balls after Collingwood’s dismissal, Ajit Agarkar broke the 31-run stand.

Kedar Jadhav, who faced eight balls, scored five. Ten balls later, he was caught by Ganguly. Mendis broke the run-a-ball stand.

Maharoof, who faced three balls, scored a couple. Four balls (Abdul)later, the left-arm spinner broke the three-run stand.

The seventh-wicket pair put on a couple. Bhatia, who faced three balls, scored a couple. Abdulla ran him out.

Ganguly bowled an over, conceding 12. He was wicketless, as did Mathews, who bowled three overs, conceding 43.

Agarkar and Abdulla bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 36, the latter conceded 28.
