Gilchrist-led DC beat Chennai again

DC made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Venugopal Rao and Mitchell Marsh made way for Dwayne Smith and Bodapati Sumanth.

CSK made no changes to their playing eleven.

On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of CSK’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 55, and lost a wicket.

Matthew Hayden, whose 18-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 19. Twenty-eight balls into the match, he was caught by Adam Gilchrist. Harmeet Singh broke the 41-run stand.

CSK scored 50 off 5.4 overs (34 balls). DC had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 24. Murali Vijay, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 23. Nineteen balls after Hayden’s dismissal, Rudra Pratap Singh and Harmeet ran him out.

Dhoni, who faced 13 balls, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 23 balls later, Pragyan Ojha broke the 17-run stand.

CSK scored 100 off 14 overs (84 balls). DC had conceded five extras at that point.

Hussey, who faced (Micha)eleven balls, scored eight. (Dho)Nineteen balls after the dismissal of the man from Ranchi, he was caught by Sumanth. Andrew Symonds broke the 28-run stand.

Subramaniam Badrinath, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored half-a-dozen. Thirteen balls later, he was caught by Mohnish Mishra. Rudra Pratap broke the 11-run stand.

Suresh Raina’s half-century – which included four boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 38 balls.

Raina, who faced 42 balls, eventually scored 52. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Rohit Sharma. Ryan Harris, the player of the match, broke the one-run stand.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored five. Eleven balls later, he was caught by Harris, who broke the 10-run stand.

Thilan Thushara, who faced eight balls, scored as many. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Symonds. Harris broke the run-a-ball stand.

Shadab Jakati didn’t face a ball. He was unbeaten, as was Doug Bollinger, who faced three balls, scoring a couple.

DC eventually conceded eight extras. CSK scored 138 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs.

Smith, who bowled an over, conceded 14. He was wicketless, as was Sharma, who bowled a couple of overs, conceding 19.

Rudra Pratap, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 18. He picked up a wicket.

Ojha, who bowled three overs, conceded three overs, conceded 20. He picked up a wicket.

Symonds and Harmeet bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 23, the latter conceded 21.

Harris, who bowled four overs, conceded 18. He picked up three scalps.

Mishra, whose 18-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 21. Three balls later, he was stumped by Dhoni. Ashwin broke the run-a-ball stand.

DC scored 50 off 8.3 overs (51 balls). CSK had conceded four extras at that point.

Sharma, who faced 15 balls, scored eight. Thirty-seven balls after Mishra’s dismissal, he was caught by Sudeep Tyagi. Raina broke the 26-run stand.

DC scored 100 off 14.4 overs (88 balls). CSK had conceded five extras at that point.

Tirumalasetti Suman’s half-century – which included four boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 37 balls.

He eventually scored 55 off 44 balls. Thirty-two balls after Sharma’s dismissal, he was caught by Raina. Jakati broke the 46-run stand.

Symonds, whose 22-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of sixes, scored 27. He was unbeaten, as was Smith, who scored 13. His eight-ball innings included a six.

CSK eventually conceded eight extras. DC, who scored 139 for the loss of four wickets off 19.1 overs, won by half-a-dozen wickets with five balls to spare.

Tyagi, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded 12.

Bollinger, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 31.

Thushara, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 27.

Raina, who bowled 3.1 overs, conceded 25. He picked up a wicket, as did Jakati, who bowled four overs, conceding 29.

Ashwin, who bowled four overs, conceded 13. He picked up two scalps.
