Kumble-led RCB triumph over Rajasthan

RR made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Faiz Fazal and Aditya Dole made way for Amit Paunikar and Kamran Khan.

RCB made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Cameron White and K P Appanna made way for Kevin Pietersen (the player of the match) and Pankaj Singh.

On winning the toss, Shane Warne, RR’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of RR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the fourth over. They scored 30, and lost three wickets.

RR’s openers put on 16. Michael Lumb, whose eight-ball innings included a boundary, scored nine. Fourteen balls into the match, Jacques Kallis and Vinay Kumar ran him out.

Paunikar, who faced a ball, didn’t get off the mark. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Robin Uthappa. Vinay broke the one-run stand.

Although his nine-ball innings included a boundary, Naman (Oj)had no reason to be in seventh heaven – four balls later, he was caught by Manish Pandey. Pankaj broke the run-a-ball stand.

RR scored 50 off 9.2 overs (57 balls). RCB had conceded three extras at that point.

Shane Watson, whose 25-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 22. Forty-one balls after Ojha’s dismissal, he was caught by Pietersen. Kallis broke the 32-run stand.

Abhishek, whose 22-ball innings included a boundary, scored 13. Nine balls (Jhunjhunwa)later, he was caught by Anil Kumble, RCB’s skipper. Pankaj broke the five-run stand.

Yusuf Pathan, whose nine-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 11. Nine balls later, Dale Steyn broke the 14-run stand.

RR scored 100 off 16.2 overs (99 balls). RCB had conceded eight extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

The seventh-wicket pair put on 50 off 43 balls. While Adam Voges’ contribution to the partnership was 26, Abhishek Raut’s contribution to it was 24. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

Both Voges’ and Raut’s innings included three boundaries apiece, and they were unbeaten.

The former, who faced 27 balls, eventually scored 28.

Raut, whose 20-ball innings also included a six, eventually scored 32.

RR scored 130 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off 20 overs.

Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.

Kumble, who was wicketless, conceded 28.

Vinay, Kallis and Steyn picked up a wicket apiece. They conceded 36, 19, and 15, respectively.

Pankaj’s spell included a maiden. He conceded 27, picking up two scalps.

RCB’s openers put on 50 off 5.3 overs (33 balls). RR hadn’t conceded any extras at that point.

Pietersen’s half-century – which included nine boundaries and a six – came off 24 balls.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 32 balls. The contributions of both Pietersen and Uthappa to the partnership were 26 apiece. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

RCB scored 100 off 10.2 overs (62 balls). RR had conceded an extra at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Uthappa, whose 21-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, didn’t add to the aforementioned score. Thirty-five balls after Pandey’s dismissal, he was stumped by Ojha. Warne broke the 60-run partnership.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 11. Pietersen, whose 29-ball innings included 10 boundaries and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 62. Seven balls later, Voges and Khan ran him out.

Virat Kohli, whose 13-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 14. Eleven balls later, he was caught by Watson. Trivedi broke the six-run stand.

Taylor, whose 11-ball innings included a six, was unbea‘ten’.

Rahul Dravid, whose four-ball innings included a boundary, scored five. He was unbeaten.

RCB, who scored 132 for the loss of five wickets off 15.4 overs, won by five wickets with 26 balls to spare.

Voges bowled an over, conceding 17. He was wicketless, as was Watson, who bowled four overs, conceding 24.

Khan bowled three overs, conceding 30. He picked up a wicket, as did Warne, who bowled four overs, conceding 28.

Trivedi bowled 3.4 overs, conceding 32. He picked up two scalps.
