KXIP made one change to their playing eleven – Kumar
Sangakkara, who was serving a one-match ban for slow over rates in three
matches, made way for Shaun Marsh.
On winning the toss, Sachin Tendulkar, MI’s skipper,
chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory
Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 48, and lost
a couple of wickets.
Ravi Bopara scored a run. Ten balls into the match, he was trapped leg
be‘four’ wicket by Zaheer Khan, who broke the five-run stand.
Manvinder, whose 10-ball innings included a boundary, scored 11. Twenty
balls (Bis)later, he was caught by Khan. Lasith Malinga, the player of the
match, broke the 35-run stand.
KXIP scored 50 off 6.2 overs (38 balls). MI had conceded 13 extras at
that point.
The third-wicket pair put on 49. Mahela Jayawardene, KXIP’s skipper, scored
20. His 18-ball innings included a couple of boundaries. Thirty-six balls after
Bisla’s dismissal, Malinga and Ambati Rayudu ran him out.
Yuvraj Singh, who faced three balls, scored two. Four balls later, he
was caught by Harbhajan Singh. Dwayne Br(av)oke the three-run stand.

Shikhar Dhawan’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries –
came off 37 balls.
He eventually faced 40 balls, failing to add to the aforementioned
score. Ten balls after Pollard’s dismissal, he was caught by Marsh. Bopara
broke the nine-run stand.
MI scored 100 off 12.5 overs (77 balls). KXIP had conceded 14 extras at

Rayudu, whose 12-ball innings included a boundary, scored nine.
Twenty-five balls after Dhawan’s dismissal, he was caught by Yuvraj. Srivastava
broke the 31-run stand.
Bravo, whose four-ball innings included a six, scored eight. Bopara had
a reason to be in seventh heaven – he caught him off his own bowling, breaking
the 11-run stand.

Saurabh Tiwary, whose 23-ball innings included a boundary and a couple
of sixes, scored 31. A couple of balls after Bravo’s dismissal, he was caught
by Goel. Bopara broke the 25-run stand.
Rajagopal Sathish, whose nine-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored 17. He was unbeaten, as was Harbhajan, who faced a ball, scoring a run.
KXIP eventually conceded 17 extras. MI, who scored 164 for the loss of
half-a-dozen wickets off 19.3 overs, won by four wickets with three balls to
spare.
Goel, who bowled an over, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he was
wicketless.
Malik, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 21.
Lee, who bowled 2.3 wicketless overs, conceded 24.
Chawla and Pathan bowled three overs each, picking up a wicket apiece.
While the former conceded 32, the latter conceded 20.
Srivastava, who bowled four overs, conceded 27. He picked up a wicket.
Bopara, who bowled four overs, conceded 31. He picked up three scalps.
