KXIP made three changes to their playing eleven – Adrian Barath, Ramesh Powar and Love Ablish made way for Shaun Marsh, Shalabh Srivastava and Vikramjeet Malik.

Gibbs and Harmeet Singh made way for Mitchell Marsh and Rahul.
On winning the toss, Adam Gilchrist, DC’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory
Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 43, and lost
a wicket.
Shaun Marsh, who faced a ball, didn’t get off the mark. Five balls into
the match, he was caught by Gilchrist. Ryan Harris broke the one-run stand.
KXIP scored 50 off 6.5 overs (41 balls). DC had conceded four extras at
that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 38 balls. While the contribution of
Kumar Sangakkara, KXIP’s skipper, to the partnership was 15, Mahela Jayawardene’s
contribution to it was 32. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.
Sangakkara’s half-century – which included nine boundaries and a six –
came off 36 balls.
Sangakkara eventually scored 52 off 37 balls. Sixty-four balls after
Marsh’s dismissal, he was caught by Pragyan Ojha. Rahul Sharma broke the 86-run
partnership.
KXIP scored 100 off 15.1 overs (92 balls). The number of extras they had
conceded at that point gave DC no reason to be in seventh heaven.
Jayawardene’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and
a six – came off 49 balls.
The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 37 balls. While Jayawardene’s
contribution to the partnership was 37, Yuvraj Singh’s contribution to it was 10.
Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.
KXIP scored 150 off 18.3 overs (112 balls). DC had conceded eight extras
at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.
Yuvraj, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary and a six, eventually
scored 20. Fifty-one balls after Sangakkara’s dismissal, he was caught by
Andrew Symonds. Rudra Pratap Singh broke the 86-run partnership.
Jayawardene, whose 62-ball innings included 13 boundaries and a couple
of sixes, eventually scored 93. He was unbeaten, as was Irfan Pathan, who faced
a ball, scoring a run.
DC scored 174 for the loss of three wickets off 20 overs.
Rohit, the player of the (Shar)match, bowled a wicketless over, conceded
eight.
Ojha and Symonds bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the former
conceded 19, the latter conceded 16.
Marsh, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 32.
Rahul, who bowled three overs, conceded 18. He picked up a wicket, as
did Rudra Pratap and Harris, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former
conceded 51, the latter conceded 27.

that point.
Mohnish Mishra, whose 21-ball innings included four boundaries, scored
20. Thirty balls after Gilchrist’s dismissal, he was trapped leg before wicket
by Malik, who broke the 41-run stand.
DC scored 100 off 11.1 overs (67 balls). KXIP had conceded eight extras
at that point.
The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 28 balls. While Tirumalasetti Suman’s
contribution to the partnership was 23, Rohit’s contribution to it was 27.
Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.
Suman, whose 31-ball innings included three boundaries and as many sixes,
eventually scored 43. Forty balls after Mishra’s dismissal, he was caught by
Sangakkara. Piyush Chawla broke the 66-run partnership.
Symonds, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored four. Eight balls later,
Theron broke the six-run stand.

– came off 31 balls.
DC scored 150 off 17.1 overs (103 balls). KXIP had conceded a dozen extras
at that point.
Marsh, whose 11-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 15.
Nineteen balls after Symonds’ dismissal, he was caught by Jayawardene. Yuvraj
broke the 28-run stand.
Rohit eventually scored 68 off 38 balls, which included half-a-dozen
boundaries and three sixes. He was unbeaten, as was Bodapati Sumanth, who
scored half-a-dozen. His three-ball innings included a boundary.
KXIP eventually conceded 13 extras. DC, who scored 178 for the loss of
five wickets off 19.1 overs, won by five wickets with five balls to spare.
Shalabh Srivastava bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 36.
Yuvraj bowled a couple of overs, conceding 22. He picked up a wicket.
Malik bowled 2.1 overs, conceding 23. He picked up a wicket.
Pathan bowled three overs, conceding 35. He picked up a wicket.
Theron and Chawla bowled four overs apiece, picking up a scalp apiece.
While the former conceded 32, the latter conceded 24.
KXIP were eliminated.
