PWI made one change to their playing eleven – Nathan McCullum made way for Mitchell Marsh.
CSK made a couple of changes to their playing (Mork)eleven – Albie and
Suraj Randiv made way for Nuwan Kulasekara and Tim Southee.
On winning the toss, Yuvraj Singh, PWI’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of PWI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 37, and lost three wickets.
Jesse Ryder, whose 12-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 19. Nineteen
balls into the match, he was caught by Srikkanth Anirudha. Doug Bollinger, the
player of the match, broke the 22-run stand.
The second-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Mohnish Mishra, who
faced nine balls, scored just two. A couple of balls later, he was caught by
Shadab Jakati off the bowling of Bollinger.
Mithun Manhas, who faced four balls, didn’t get off the mark. Eleven
balls later, Kulasekara broke the six-run stand.
Manish Pandey, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary, scored 10. A
dozen balls later, he was caught by Ravichandran Ashwin. Southee broke the
13-run stand.
PWI scored 50 off nine overs (54 balls). CSK had conceded an extra at
that point.
Uthappa, whose 22-ball (Rob)innings included a couple of boundaries and
as many sixes, scored 31. Thirty-six balls after Pandey’s dismissal, he was
caught by Anirudha. Ashwin broke the 42-run stand.
PWI scored 100 off 15.5 overs (95 balls). CSK had conceded a couple of extras
at that point.
Yuvraj’s half-century – which included three boundaries and as many
sixes – came off 39 balls.
He eventually scored 62 off 43 balls, which included the aforementioned number
of boundaries, in addition to four sixes. He was unbeaten.
Marsh, whose 15-ball innings included a boundary, scored 11. Thirty
balls after Uthappa’s dismissal, he was caught by Ashwin. Bollinger broke the
40-run stand.
Jerome Taylor, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. He was
unbeaten.
CSK eventually conceded five extras. PWI scored 141 for the loss of half-a-dozen
wickets off 20 overs.
Jakati bowled a couple of overs, conceding 15. He was wicketless, as was
Suresh Raina, who bowled three overs, conceding 16.
Kulasekara bowled three overs, conceding 26. He picked up a wicket, as
did Southee and Ashwin, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded
33, the latter conceded 29.
Bollinger bowled four overs, including a maiden. He conceded 21, picking
up three scalps.

– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 28, and lost a wicket.
Michael Hussey, whose 18-ball innings included a boundary, scored nine.
Twenty-seven balls into the chase, he was caught by Pandey. Murali Kartik broke
the 19-run stand.
CSK scored 50 off 8.3 overs (52 balls). PWI had conceded half-a-dozen extras
at that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 38 balls. While Murali Vijay’s contribution
to the partnership was 16, Subramaniam Badrinath’s contribution to it was 32.
Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.
Murali Vijay, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary and a six, eventually
scored 31. Forty-four balls after Hussey’s dismissal, he was caught by Manhas.
Ryder broke the 61-run partnership.
CSK scored 100 off 13.5 overs (84 balls). The number of extras they had
conceded at that point gave PWI no reason to be in seventh heaven.
Badrinath’s half-century – which included five boundaries and a couple
of sixes – came off 33 balls.
The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 38 balls. While Badrinath’s contribution
to the partnership was 23, Raina’s contribution to it was 32. Extras’ contribution
to the partnership was a run.
Badrinath eventually scored 63 off 44 balls, which included half-a-dozen
boundaries, in addition to the aforementioned number of sixes. He was unbeaten,
as was Raina, who eventually scored 34. His 25-ball innings included a boundary
and a couple of sixes.
PWI eventually conceded eight extras. CSK, who scored 145 for the loss
of a couple of wickets off 19.3 overs, won by eight wickets with three balls to
spare.
Yuvraj and Marsh bowled a wicketless over apiece. While the former conceded
10, the latter had no reason to be in seventh heaven.
Alfonso Thomas bowled 3.3 wicketless overs, including a maiden. He
conceded 24.
Taylor and Rahul Sharma bowled four wicketless overs each, conceding 27
apiece.
Ryder bowled a couple of overs, conceding 21. He picked up a wicket, as
was Kartik, who bowled four overs, including a maiden. He conceded 27.
