RCB (Moham)made five changes to their playing (Pat)eleven – Chris Gayle, Luke Pomersbach, Abhimanyu Mithun, Syed and Sreenath Aravind made way for Andrew McDonald, Cheteshwar Pujara, Vinay Kumar, Harshal and Muttiah Muralitharan.
DD made one change to their playing eleven – Roelof van der Merwe made
way for and Doug Bracewell.
On winning the toss, Virender Sehwag, DD’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 46, and lost a couple
of wickets.
Pujara, whose 12-ball innings included a boundary, scored (Mork)eleven.
Four overs into the match, he was caught by Irfan Pathan. Morne broke the
37-run stand.
McDonald, whose 19-ball innings included four boundaries and a couple of
sixes, scored 30. A couple of overs later, he was caught by Bracewell. Morkel
broke the nine-run stand.
RCB scored 50 off 6.5 overs (41 balls). DD had conceded three extras at
that point.
Virat Kohli, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight.
Eight balls after McDonald’s dismissal, he was caught by Yogesh Nagar.
Bracewell broke the 10-run stand.
Saurabh Tiwary, who faced three balls, scored a run. Five balls later,
he was trapped leg before wicket by Glenn Maxwell, who broke the three-run
stand.
Mayank Agarwal, whose 15-ball innings included a boundary and a six,
scored 16. Twenty-five balls later, he was caught by Nagar. Shahbaz Nadeem
broke the 26-run stand.
RCB scored 100 off 13.5 overs (83 balls). DD had conceded four extras at
that point.
The fifth-wicket pair put on 18. Daniel Vettori, RCB’s skipper, faced
three balls, scoring four. A dozen balls after Agarwal’s dismissal, Bracewell and
Maxwell ran him out.
A B de Villiers, the player of the match, scored 50 off 37 balls, which included
three boundaries and a couple of sixes.
RCB scored 150 off 19.2 overs (116 balls). DD had conceded half-a-dozen extras
at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
The seventh-wicket pair put on 50 off 31 balls. While de Villiers’ contribution
to the partnership was 34, Vinay’s contribution to it was 14. Extras’
contribution to the partnership was a couple.
De Villiers, whose 42-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and
a couple of sixes, eventually scored 64. He was unbeaten.
Vinay, whose 16-ball innings included a boundary, scored 18. Thirty-three
balls after Vettori’s dismissal, he was caught by Morkel. Bracewell broke the
54-run stand.
The last-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Patel, who faced a ball, didn’t
open his account. The next ball, he was dismissed by Bracewell.
RCB scored 157 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs.
Umesh Yadav, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded eight. He was
wicketless, as was Pathan, who bowled four overs, conceding 47.
Maxwell, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 10. He picked up a
wicket, as did Nadeem, who bowled four overs, conceding 26.
Morkel, who bowled four overs, conceded 30. He picked up a couple of
wickets.
Bracewell, who bowled four overs, conceded 32. He picked up three
scalps.

Fourteen balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Muralitharan, who
broke the 13-run stand.
Maxwell, who faced four balls, scored three. A dozen balls later, he was
caught by Khan. Muralitharan broke the eight-run stand.
Venugopal Rao, whose 23-ball innings included a boundary, scored 18. A
dozen balls later, he was caught by Agarwal. Needless to say, McDonald was in
seventh heaven.
DD scored 100 off 15.4 overs (94 balls). RCB had conceded a couple of extras
at that point.
Nagar, whose 15-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 16.
Twenty balls after Rao’s dismissal, he was caught by Patel. Vettori broke the
32-run stand.
The seventh-wicket pair put on 16. Pathan, whose 15-ball innings included
a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 24. A couple of overs later, Patel and
de Villiers ran him out.
Bracewell, whose nine-ball innings included a boundary, scored a dozen.
He was unbeaten, as was Morkel, who faced three balls, scored a couple.
RCB eventually conceded four extras. DD, who scored 137 for the loss of
seven wickets off 20 overs, lost by 20 runs.
Patel bowled two overs, conceding 10. He was wicketless, as was Vinay,
who bowled four overs, conceding 25.
McDonald bowled two overs, conceding 11. He picked up a wicket, as did
Khan and Vettori, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 36,
the latter conceded 28.
Muralitharan, who bowled four overs, conceded 25. He picked up three
scalps.
