the Ryans (McLaren and Harris) and Bhargav Bhatt made way for David Hussey,
Bipul, James Faulkner and Harmeet Singh.
On winning the toss, Adam Gilchrist, KXIP’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of RR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 57, without the loss of
a wicket.
RR’s openers put on 50 off 5.2 overs (32 balls). KXIP had conceded five
extras at that point. While the contribution of Rahul Dravid, their skipper, to
the partnership was 13, the contribution of Ajinkya Rahane, the player of the
match, to it was 32.
Dravid, whose 24-ball innings included three boundaries, eventually scored
28. Fifty-seven balls into the match, he was caught by Faulkner. Harmeet Singh
broke the 77-run partnership.
Ashok Menaria, who faced three balls, didn’t open his account. Eight
balls (Chaw)later, Piyush broke the 10-run stand.
Rahane’s half-century – which included nine boundaries – came off 37
