CSK made no changes to their playing eleven.
KTK made three changes to their playing eleven – Mahela Jayawardene,
Prasanth Parameswaran and Padmanabhan Prasanth made way for Kedar Jadhav, Rudra
Pratap Singh and Muttiah Muralitharan.
On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of CSK’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 41, and lost a couple
of wickets.
Murali Vijay, whose 11-ball innings included three boundaries, scored
16. Three overs into the match, Rudra Pratap broke the 19-run stand.
Suresh Raina, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of
sixes, scored 19. Sixteen balls later, he was caught by Rudra Pratap. Sreesanth
broke the 21-run stand.
CSK scored 50 off 7.5 overs (47 balls). KTK hadn’t conceded any extras
at that point.
Subramaniam Badrinath, whose 10-ball innings included a six, scored 13.
Eighteen balls after Raina’s dismissal, he was caught by Rudra Pratap. Brad
Hodge broke the 20-run stand.
Michael Hussey, whose 37-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored 32. Thirty-five balls later, he was caught by Gnaneswara Rao. Ravindra
Jadeja broke the 37-run stand.

Wriddhiman Saha, the player of the match, scored 46 off 33, which

Hodge and Sreesanth bowled three overs apiece, picking up a wicket
apiece. While the former conceded 24, the latter conceded 23.
Rudra Pratap bowled four overs, conceding 34. He picked up a wicket.
Jadeja bowled four overs, conceding 26. He picked up two scalps.

Patel had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored half-a-dozen.

Twenty-six balls later, he was caught by Dwayne, who Br(av)oke the 34-run
stand.
KTK scored 50 off 8.1 overs (49 balls). CSK had conceded five extras at

Brendon McCullum, whose 37-ball innings included three boundaries,
scored 33. Forty-three balls after Rao’s dismissal, Shadab Jakati broke the
38-run stand.
KTK scored 100 off 16.4 overs (100 balls). CSK had conceded eight extras
at that point.
Hodge’s half-century – which included three boundaries and a couple of sixes
– came off 41 balls.
He eventually scored 51 off 42 balls, and was unbeaten.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 22. Owais Shah, who faced three balls,

Bollinger, Bravo, Jakati and Ashwin picked up a scalp apiece. They conceded
