Dada-led PWI win; Delhi disappointed

DD made one changes to their playing eleven – Ajit Agarkar made way for Pawan Negi.

PWI made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Marlon Samuels and Bhuvneshwar Kumar made way for Alfonso Thomas and Mithun Manhas.

On winning the toss, Virender Sehwag, DD’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of PWI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 52, and lost a wicket.

Uthappa, whose 13-ball (Rob)innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 10. Twenty-four balls into the match, he was caught by Naman Ojha. Morne Morkel broke the 26-run stand.

PWI scored 50 off 5.4 overs (35 balls). DD had conceded three extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 29 balls. While Jesse Ryder’s contribution to the partnership was 29, the contribution of Sourav Ganguly, PWI’s skipper and the player of the match, to it was 20. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.

PWI scored 100 off 11.5 overs (72 balls). DD had conceded 10 extras at that point.

Ganguly, whose 35-ball innings included five boundaries and a six, eventually scored 41. Sixty-three balls after Uthappa’s dismissal, he was caught by Umesh Yadav. Morkel broke the 93-run partnership.

Ryder’s half-century – which included five boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 33 balls.

PWI scored 150 off 17.1 overs (104 balls). DD had conceded 15 extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 22 balls. While Ryder’s contribution to the partnership was 21, Steven Smith’s contribution to it was 29. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.

Ryder, whose 58-ball innings included seven boundaries and four sixes, eventually scored 86. Thirty-three balls after Ganguly’s dismissal, Morkel broke the 67-run partnership.

Smith, whose 13-ball innings included four boundaries and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 34. He was unbeaten, as was Angelo Mathews, who scored half-a-dozen. His two-ball innings included a boundary.

PWI scored 192 for the loss of three wickets off 20 overs.

Yogesh Nagar and Sehwag bowled a wicketless over apiece. While the former conceded 10, the latter conceded nine.

Kevin Pietersen, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 21.

Shahbaz Nadeem, Yadav and Irfan Pathan (whose spell included a maiden) bowled four wicketless overs apiece. They conceded 44, 29, and 25, respectively.

Morkel, who bowled four overs, conceded 50. He picked up three scalps.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 33 balls. While Sehwag’s contribution to the partnership was 20, Pietersen’s contribution to it was 30. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

Pietersen, whose 23-ball innings included a boundary and three sixes, eventually scored 32. Forty-two balls after Jayawardene’s dismissal, Ganguly broke the 75-run partnership.

Sehwag’s half-century – which included four boundaries and as many sixes – came off 27 balls.

DD scored 100 off 10.4 overs (64 balls). PWI had conceded three extras at that point.

Pathan, whose 11-ball innings included a six, scored 15. Seventeen balls after Pietersen’s dismissal, he was caught by Ryder. Ganguly broke the 27-run stand.

Sehwag, whose 32-ball innings included five boundaries and the aforementioned number of sixes, eventually scored 57. Three balls later, he was caught by Murali Kartik, who broke the one-run stand.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 10. Negi, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight. Nine balls later, Mathews and Uthappa ran him out.

Ross Taylor, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary, scored a dozen. Twenty balls later, he was caught by Smith. Thomas broke the 18-run stand.

DD scored 150 off 17.5 overs (107 balls). PWI had conceded five extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Nagar, whose 19-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 24. Eleven balls after Taylor’s dismissal, he was caught by Ganguly. Thomas broke the 24-run stand.

Ojha, whose six-ball innings included a six, scored 11. He was unbeaten, as was Morkel, who faced a ball, scoring a run.

DD, who scored 172 for the loss of seven wickets off 20 overs, lost by 20 runs.

Ryder, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded 18.

Mathews and Rahul Sharma bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 32, the latter conceded 20.

Ashish Nehra, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 26.

Kartik, who bowled three overs, conceded 25. He picked up a wicket.

Ganguly, who bowled four overs, conceded 27. He picked up a couple of wickets.

Thomas, who bowled four overs, conceded 22. He picked up three scalps.
