CSK made a couple of changes to their playing (Michae)eleven – Wriddhiman Saha and Nuwan Kulasekara made way for Hussey and Yo Mahesh.
KKR made no changes to their playing eleven.
On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of CSK’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 43, and lost a couple of wickets.
Faf du Plessis, who faced four balls, scored three. Ten balls into the match, he was caught by Brendon McCullum. Brett Lee broke the five-run stand.
The second-wicket pair put on 27. Hussey, whose 19-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 18. Twenty balls later, Lee and McCullum ran him out.
CSK scored 50 off seven overs (42 balls). KKR had conceded an extra at that point.
Dwayne Bravo, whose run-a-ball innings included a six, scored a dozen.
Thirty-one (Iq)balls after Hussey’s dismissal, he was caught by Abdulla.
Jacques Kallis broke the 42-run stand.

KKR eventually conceded half-a-dozen extras. CSK scored 139 for the loss

Pathan and Laxmi Ratan bowled a wicketless over apiece. While the former
conceded 10, the (Shuk)latter had no reason to be in seventh heaven.
Rajat Bhatia and Abdulla bowled three wicketless overs apiece. While the
former conceded 22, the latter conceded 18.
Lee and Narine bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While
the former conceded 34, the latter conceded 24.
Kallis, who bowled four overs, conceded 21. He picked up a couple of
scalps.

McCullum, who faced eight balls, scored a couple. Eighteen balls into the chase, he was caught by Shadab Jakati. Ravichandran Ashwin broke the 14-run stand.
KKR scored 50 off 7.3 overs (46 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave CSK no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Gautam Gambhir, KKR’s skipper and the player of the match, to the partnership
was 25, Kallis’ contribution to it was 16. Extras’ contribution to the
partnership was nine.
Kallis, whose 31-ball innings included a boundary and a six, eventually
scored 26. Fifty-eight balls after McCullum’s dismissal, he was caught by
Dhoni. Bravo broke the 70-run partnership.
Gambhir’s half-century – which included four boundaries and a six – came
off 43 balls.

Manoj Tiwary, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored 13.

caught by du Plessis. Ashwin broke the 12-run stand.
Das, whose four-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 11.
He was unbeaten, as was Shukla, who didn’t face a ball.
CSK eventually conceded 13 extras. KKR, who scored 140 for the loss of
five wickets off 19.4 overs, won by five wickets with a couple of balls to
spare.
Yo Mahesh bowled a wicketless over, conceding 11.
Jakati and Jadeja bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the
former conceded 17, the latter conceded 13.
Raina bowled three wicketless overs, conceding 22.
Morkel bowled four overs, conceding 24. He picked up a wicket.
Ashwin bowled 3.4 overs, conceding 22. He picked up two wickets.
Bravo bowled four overs, conceding 27. He picked up a couple of scalps.
