PWI made three changes to their playing (Micha)eleven –
Jesse Ryder, Alfonso Thomas and Rahul (Shar)made way for Clarke, Wayne Parnell and
Murali Kartik.
The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 33, and lost a couple
of wickets.
DC’s openers didn’t get off the mark. Parthiv Patel, who faced a ball, didn’t
open his account. A ball into the match, he was dismissed by Marlon Samuels.
Shikhar Dhawan, whose 18-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored 13. Twenty-seven balls later, Bhuvneshwar Kumar broke the 23-run stand.
DC scored 50 off 9.3 overs (57 balls). PWI had conceded three extras at
that point.
The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 43 balls. While White’s C(amer)ontribution
to the partnership was 31, Sangakkara’s contribution to it was 17. Extras’ contribution
to the partnership was a couple.

Kartik, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 16. He was wicketless, as
was Sourav Ganguly, PWI’s skipper, who bowled three overs, conceding 39.
Samuels, who bowled three overs, conceded 33. He picked up a wicket, as
did Nehra, Parnell (whose spell included a maiden), and Kumar, who bowled four
overs apiece. They conceded 41, 25, and 22, respectively.

sixes, scored 47. He was unbeaten.
PWI scored 150 off 18.2 overs (112 balls). DC had conceded half-a-dozen extras
at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
Uthappa, whose 18-ball innings included a boundary and a six, eventually
scored 26. Thirty-nine balls after Ganguly’s dismissal, he was caught by the
substitute, Daniel Harris. Ashish Reddy broke the 62-run partnership.
Although his four-ball innings included a six, Mithun Manhas had no reason
to be in seventh heaven – half-a-dozen balls later, he was caught by
Sangakkara. Veer Pratap Singh broke the 14-run stand.
Samuels, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was unbeaten.
PWI, who scored 173 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs, lost by
13 runs.
Duminy and Mishra bowled three overs apiece. While the former conceded
25, the latter conceded 20. He was wicketless, as was Dale Steyn, who bowled
four overs, conceding 46.
Dhawan, who bowled an over, conceded nine. He picked up a wicket.
Sharma, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded nine. He picked up a
wicket.
Reddy, who bowled three overs, conceded 32. He picked up a wicket.
Veer Pratap, who bowled four overs, conceded 31. He picked up a scalp.
