Sehwag-led DD beat Rajasthan again

RR made one change to their playing eleven – Kevon Cooper made way for Shane Watson.

DD made one change to their playing eleven – Ajit Agarkar made way for Pawan Negi, the player of the match.

On winning the toss, Rahul Dravid, RR’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of RR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 56, without the loss of a wicket.

RR’s openers put on 50 off five overs (30 balls). DD had conceded a couple of extras at that point. While Dravid’s contribution to the partnership was 17, Ajinkya Rahane’s contribution to it was 31.

Rahane, whose 32-ball innings included seven boundaries, eventually scored 42. Fifty-two balls into the match, he was caught by Virender Sehwag, DD’s skipper. Negi broke the 71-run partnership.

Watson, whose nine-ball innings included a six, scored eight. Thirteen balls later, Negi broke the 16-run stand.

Owais Shah, who faced three balls, scored a run. Five balls later, he was caught by Naman Ojha. Umesh Yadav broke the three-run stand.

Brad Hodge, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. Four balls later, he was caught by Sehwag. Negi broke the three-run stand.

Ashok Menaria, who faced four balls, scored a couple. Four balls later, he was caught by Kevin Pietersen. Negi broke the two-run stand.

RR scored 100 off 14.1 overs (85 balls). DD had conceded three extras at that point.

Dravid’s half-century – which included seven boundaries – came off 35 balls.

He eventually scored 57 off 43 balls. Thirty-one balls after Menaria’s dismissal, Morne Morkel broke the 33-run stand.

Shreevats Goswami, whose 21-ball innings included a boundary, scored 18. He was unbeaten, as was Ankeet Chavan, who had no reason to be in seventh heaven, despite the fact that his six-ball innings included a boundary.

DD eventually conceded five extras. RR scored 141 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off 20 overs.

Irfan Pathan and Sehwag bowled a couple of overs apiece. While the former conceded 22, the latter conceded 15. They were wicketless, as was Shahbaz Nadeem, who bowled four overs, conceding 33.

Yadav and Morkel bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 28, the latter conceded 23.

Negi, who bowled four overs, conceded 18. He picked up four scalps.

DD’s openers didn’t get off the mark. Mahela Jayawardene, who faced three balls, didn’t open his account. Three dot balls into the chase, he was trapped leg before wicket by Chavan.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 27 balls. While Sehwag’s contribution to the partnership was 39, Pietersen’s contribution to it was eight. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was four.

Sehwag’s half-century – which included nine boundaries and a six – came off 20 balls.

Pietersen, whose 34-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, eventually scored 36. Fifty-nine balls after Jayawardene’s dismissal, he was caught by Shah. Watson broke the 96-run partnership.

DD scored 100 off 10.3 overs (63 balls). RR had conceded five extras at that point.

Ross Taylor, whose five-ball innings included a boundary, scored half-a-dozen. Eight balls after Pietersen’s dismissal, he was caught by Goswami. Brad Hogg broke the 10-run stand.

Sehwag, whose 38-ball innings included a dozen boundaries, in addition to the six, eventually scored 73. Eighteen balls later, he was caught by Dravid. Hogg broke the 25-run stand.

Yogesh Nagar, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored nine. He was unbeaten, as was Ojha, who scored 11. His three-ball innings included a boundary and a six.

RR eventually conceded nine extras. DD, who scored 144 for the loss of four wickets off 15.2 overs, lost by half-a-dozen wickets with 28 balls to spare.

Menaria, who bowled two wicketless balls, conceded 10.

The Singhs were wicketless. While Amit, who bowled an over, conceded a dozen, Pankaj, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 24.

Chavan and Watson bowled four overs, conceding 29 each. They picked up a wicket apiece.

Hogg, who bowled four overs, conceded 32. He picked up two scalps.
