Hussey leads; KXIP disappoint Bangalore

RCB made a couple of changes to their playing (Pat)eleven – Tillakaratne Dilshan and Harshal made way for Andrew McDonald and Asad Pathan.

KXIP (Shar)made three changes to their playing eleven – David Miller, Bipul and Bhargav Bhatt made way for Abhishek Nayar, Paras Dogra and Ryan Harris.

On winning the toss, David Hussey, KXIP’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 33, and lost a wicket.

(Agarw)Although his nine-ball innings included a six, Mayank had no reason to be in seventh heaven – nine balls into the match, Harris broke the seven-run stand.

RCB scored 50 off 9.1 overs (55 balls). KXIP hadn’t conceded any extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 48 balls. While Chris Gayle’s contribution to the partnership was 28, Virat Kohli’s contribution to it was 24. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

Gayle’s half-century – which included five boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 32 balls.

RCB scored 100 off 13 overs (78 balls). KXIP had conceded three extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 100 off 70 balls. While Gayle’s contribution to the partnership was 56, Kohli’s contribution to it was 41. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.

Gayle, whose 42-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and four sixes, eventually scored 71. Eighty-three balls after Agarwal’s dismissal, he was caught by the substitute, Miller. Azhar Mahmood, the player of the match, broke the 119-run partnership.

Kohli, whose 42-ball innings included three boundaries and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 45. Eight balls (Chaw)later, Piyush broke the run-a-ball stand.

RCB scored 150 off 19 overs (114 balls). KXIP had conceded five extras at that point.

McDonald, whose 10-ball (Nit)innings included a boundary, scored (Sai)nine. Fifteen balls after Kohli’s dismissal, he was caught behind. Mahmood broke the 20-run stand.

De Villiers, whose 13-ball innings included A Boundary and a six, scored 17. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Chawla. Mahmood broke the one-run stand.

Pathan, who faced three balls, scored a couple. He was unbeaten, as was Saurabh Tiwary, who faced a ball, scoring a run.

KXIP eventually conceded half-a-dozen extras. RCB scored 158 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs.

Nayar, who bowled a wicketless overs, conceded 16.

Hussey, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded nine.

Parvinder Awana and Praveen Kumar bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 48, the latter conceded eight.

Harris, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 21. He picked up a wicket, as did Chawla, who bowled three overs, conceding 35.

Mahmood, who bowled four overs, conceded 20. He picked up three scalps.

KXIP scored 50 off 5.3 overs (33 balls). RCB had conceded three extras at that point.

Shaun Marsh, whose 10-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight. Twenty-eight balls into the chase, McDonald broke the 38-run stand.

Mandeep Singh, whose 30-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and a six, scored 43. Twenty-five balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by K P Appanna, who broke the 35-run stand.

KXIP scored 100 off 12.2 overs (74 balls). RCB had conceded three extras at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 32 balls. While the contributions of Saini and Hussey to the partnership were 25 apiece, extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

Saini’s half-century – which included five boundaries – came off 34 balls.

He faced 36 balls, failing to add to the aforementioned score. Forty-five balls after Mandeep’s dismissal, he was caught by Daniel Vettori, RCB’s skipper. McDonald broke the 73-run partnership.

KXIP scored 150 off 17.3 overs (105 balls). RCB had conceded four extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

The fourth-wicket pair put on five. Mahmood, who faced four balls, scored a couple. Eight balls after Saini’s dismissal, Appanna and de Villiers ran him out.

The fifth-wicket pair put on three. Hussey, whose 29-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and four sixes, eventually scored 45. Half-a-dozen balls later, Vinay Kumar and de Villiers ran him out.

The sixth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Nayar, who faced three balls, scored a couple. The next ball, Kohli ran him out.

Dogra, who faced five balls, scored three. He was unbeaten, as was Chawla, who faced a couple of balls, scoring half-a-dozen. In fact, his runs came by way of a six.

KXIP, who scored 163 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off 19.5 overs, won by four wickets with a ball to spare.

Pathan, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded 14.

Vinay, who bowled 3.5 wicketless overs, conceded 32.

Zaheer Khan and Vettori bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 31, the latter conceded 29.

Appanna, who bowled three overs, conceded 30. He picked up a wicket.

McDonald, who bowled four overs, conceded 25. He picked up two scalps.
