DC made a couple of changes to their playing (Dani)eleven – Jean-Paul
Duminy and Biplab Samantray made way for Christian and Abhishek Jhunjhunwala.
On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of CSK’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 56, and lost a wicket.
Murali Vijay, whose 11-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored
14. Fourteen balls into the match, he was caught by Amit Mishra. Veer Pratap
Singh broke the 15-run stand.
CSK scored 50 off 5.2 overs (32 balls). DC had conceded a couple of extras
at that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 31 balls. While Faf du Plessis’ contribution
to the partnership was 25, Suresh Raina’s contribution to it was 24. Extras’ contribution
to the partnership was a couple.
Raina, whose 24-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and as many
sixes, eventually scored 32. Forty-four balls after Vijay’s dismissal, he was
caught by Jhunjhunwala. Mishra broke the 64-run partnership.

Du Plessis, whose 35-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a

Dwayne Bravo, whose four-ball innings included a six, scored a dozen. He
was unbeaten, as was Subramaniam Badrinath, who faced a ball, scoring a run.

Ankit Sharma, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 13. He was
unbeaten, as was Dale Steyn, who bowled four overs, conceding 25.
Mishra and Reddy bowled a couple of overs each, picking up a wicket
apiece. While the former conceded 18, the latter conceded 16.
Jhunjhunwala, who bowled three overs, conceded 13. He picked up a wicket.
