KKR made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Brendon McCullum and
Pradeep Sangwan made way for Manvinder Bisla and Shakib Al Hasan.
On winning the toss, Harbhajan Singh, MI’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of MI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 49, and lost a wicket.
Tendulkar, who faced a couple of balls, scored as many. Fourteen ballS(ach)into
the match, he was stumped by Bisla. Shakib broke the 15-run stand.
MI scored 50 off 6.1 overs (37 balls). KKR hadn’t conceded any extras at
that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 36 balls. While Gibbs’ contribution
to the partnership was 36, the contribution of Rohit, the player of the (Shar)match,
to it was 33. Extras’ contribution to it was a run.
Sharma’s half-century – which included five boundaries and three sixes –
came off 29 balls.
MI scored 100 off 11.5 overs (71 balls). KKR had conceded three extras
at that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 100 off 71 balls. While Gibbs’
contribution to the partnership was 35, Sharma’s contribution to it was 64.

Gibbs, whose 58-ball innings included seven boundaries and a couple of sixes,
eventually scored 66. He was unbeaten, as was Sharma, who eventually scored 109
off 60 balls, which included a dozen boundaries, in addition to the aforementioned
number of sixes.
KKR eventually conceded five extras. MI scored 182 for the loss of a
wicket off 20 overs.
Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.
Brett Lee, Rajat Bhatia, Jacques Kallis and Sunil Narine were
wicketless. They conceded 44, 41, 40, and 28, respectively.
Shakib, who conceded 27, picked up the only wicket to fall.
Gautam Gambhir, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark.
Three balls into the chase, Patel broke the one-run stand.
Bisla, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. Five balls later, he
was caught by Patel. Pragyan Ojha broke the two-run stand.
KKR scored 50 off 8.1 overs (49 balls). MI had conceded a couple of extras

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 36 balls. While Kallis’ contribution
to the partnership was 28, Manoj Tiwary’s contribution to it was 23. Extras’ contribution

Tiwary, whose 25-ball innings included four boundaries, eventually
scored 27. Fifty-one balls after Bisla’s dismissal, he was trapped leg before
wicket by Kieron Pollard, who broke the 57-run partnership.

Kallis, whose 60-ball innings included seven boundaries and three sixes,
eventually scored 79. Sixty-nine balls after Tiwary’s dismissal, he was caught
by Sharma. Dwayne Smith broke the 91-run partnership.
Pathan, whose 31-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six,
eventually scored 40. He was unbeaten, as was Debabrata Das, who faced a ball,
scoring a boundary.
KKR, who scored 155 for the loss of four wickets off 20 overs, lost by
27 runs.
Harbhajan, who bowled an over, had no reason to be in seventh heaven –
he was wicketless, as was Lasith Malinga, who bowled four overs, conceding 27.
Ojha, who bowled three overs, conceded 26. He picked up a wicket, as did
Patel, Smith and Pollard, who bowled four overs apiece. While Patel and Smith
conceded 32 apiece, Pollard conceded 29.
