White leads; DC beat Rajasthan

DC made four changes to their playing (Dani)eleven – Kumar Sangakkara, Christian, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala and T P Sudhindra made way for Jean-Paul Duminy, Chris Lynn, Ashish Reddy and Veer Pratap Singh.

RR made one change to their playing eleven – Brad Hodge made way for Owais Shah.

On winning the toss, Rahul Dravid, RR’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of RR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 41, and lost a wicket.

Although his innings included a boundary, Ajinkya Rahane had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored half-a-dozen. Nine balls into the match, he was caught by Shikhar Dhawan. Dale Steyn, the player of the match, broke the eight-run stand.

Shane Watson, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 13. Twenty-eight balls later, Amit Mishra broke the 33-run stand.

RR scored 50 off 7.4 overs (46 balls). DC hadn’t conceded any extras at that point.

Although his nine-ball innings included a boundary, Stuart Binny had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 15 balls after Watson’s dismissal, Mishra broke the 13-run stand.

Dravid, whose 36-ball innings included five boundaries, scored 39. Twenty balls later, he was caught by Lynn. Manpreet Gony broke the 19-run stand.

RR scored 100 off 16.3 overs (100 balls). DC had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

Ashok Menaria, whose 17-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 20. Thirty-two balls after Dravid’s dismissal, he was caught by Dhawan. Veer Pratap broke the 35-run stand.

Johan Botha, who faced four balls, scored three. Nine balls later, he was caught by Steyn, who broke the 10-run stand.

Shreevats Goswami, who faced three balls, scored as many. Veer Pratap had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored eight-run stand.

The eighth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Shah, whose 32-ball innings included a boundary, scored 28. The next ball, Patel ran him out.

Ajit Chandila, who faced a ball, failed to get off the mark. He was unbeaten.

The number of extras they had conceded gave DC no reason to be in seventh heaven.

RR scored 126 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs.

Ashish and Duminy bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 17, the latter conceded 13.

Gony, who bowled four overs, conceded 26. He picked up a wicket.

Veer Pratap, Mishra and Steyn bowled four overs each, picking up a couple of scalps apiece. They conceded 31, 26, and 20, respectively.

The first Powerplay of DC’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 58, without the loss of a wicket.

DC’s openers scored 50 off 5.4 overs (34 balls). RR had conceded four extras at that point. While Akshath Reddy’s contribution to the partnership was 23, Dhawan’s contribution to it was 24.

Dhawan, whose 24-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and as many sixes, eventually scored 26. Fifty-one balls into the chase, he was caught by Chandila. Botha broke the 63-run partnership.

Akshath, whose 35-ball innings included four boundaries and a six, eventually scored 42. Twenty balls later, he was caught by Shah. Siddharth Trivedi broke the run-a-ball stand.

Cameron White, RR’s skipper, faced four balls, scoring a run. Half-a-dozen balls later, he was caught by Chandila, who broke the run-a-ball stand.

DC scored 100 off 15.1 overs (91 balls). DC had conceded nine extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they conceded.

Lynn, whose nine-ball innings included a boundary, scored half-a-dozen. Eighteen balls after White’s dismissal, he was caught by Watson. Trivedi broke the 14-run stand.

Duminy, who faced 31 balls, scored 24. Thirteen balls later, he was caught by Shah. Binny broke the 16-run stand.

Both Patel and Ashish were unbea‘ten’. While the former’s five-ball innings included a boundary, the latter’s four-ball innings included a couple of boundaries.

DC, who scored 128 for the loss of five wickets off 18.4 overs, won by five wickets with eight balls to spare.

Watson, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 14. He was wicketless, as was Shaun Tait, who bowled 3.4 overs, conceding 35.

Binny, who bowled an over, conceded eight. He picked up a wicket, as did Botha and Chandila, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 30, the latter conceded 20.

Trivedi, who bowled four overs, conceded 20. He picked up a couple of scalps.

As a result of this match, RR were eliminated.
