Bangalore beaten by Dravid-led RR

RR made three changes to their playing eleven – Dishant Yagnik, Sachin Baby, and Kevon Cooper made way for Sanju Samson (the player of the match), Owais Shah, and Sreesanth.

RCB made three changes to their playing eleven – Tillakaratne Dilshan, Arun Karthik, and Jamaluddin Syed (Moham)made way for Abhinav Mukund, Moises Henriques, and Murali Kartik.

On winning the toss, Rahul Dravid, RR’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 55, and lost a wicket.

Chris Gayle, whose 16-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and a six, scored 34. Twenty-five balls into the match, he was caught by Samson. Shane Watson broke the 44-run stand.

RCB scored 50 off 5.2 overs (33 balls). RR had conceded four extras at that point.

Mukund, whose 21-ball innings included a boundary, scored 19. Twenty-four balls after Gayle’s (Trive)dismissal, Siddharth broke the 22-run stand.

A B de Villiers, whose 13-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 21. Twenty-five balls later, he was caught by James Faulkner. Sreesanth broke the 33-run stand.

RCB scored 100 off 13.1 overs (80 balls). RR had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper, scored 32 off 35 balls, which included three boundaries. Twenty-two balls after de Villiers’ dismissal, he was caught by Faulkner. Watson broke the 24-run stand.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 22. Henriques, whose 19-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 22. Fourteen balls later, Faulkner and Samson ran him out.

Saurabh Tiwary, who faced eight balls, scored as many. He was unbeaten.

Ravi Rampaul, who faced four balls, scored three. Five balls after Henriques’ dismissal, he was caught by Samson. Watson broke the four-run stand.

RCB scored 150 off 19.1 overs (117 balls). RR had conceded 10 extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Vinay Kumar, whose six-ball innings included three sixes, scored 22. He was unbeaten.

RCB scored 171 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off 20 overs.

Stuart Binny, who bowled an over, conceded eight. He was wicketless, as was Faulkner and Ajit, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 42, the (Chandi)latter conceded 39.

Trivedi, who bowled three overs, conceded 20. He picked up a wicket, as did Sreesanth, who bowled four overs, including a maiden. He conceded 35.

Watson, who bowled four overs, conceded 22. He picked up three scalps.

RR scored 50 off 7.1 overs (43 balls). RCB had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Samson’s half-century – which included five boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 32 balls.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 33 balls. While Samson’s contribution to the partnership was 31, Watson’s contribution to it was 20. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

RR scored 100 off 12.4 overs (76 balls). RCB had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Samson, whose 41-ball innings included seven boundaries and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 63. Forty-six balls after Dravid’s dismissal, he was caught by Kartik. Rampaul broke the 68-run partnership.

RR scored 150 off 17.3 overs (105 balls). RCB had conceded five extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Watson, whose 31-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, eventually scored 41. Twenty-five balls after Samson’s dismissal, he was caught by de Villiers. Rudra Pratap broke the 46-run stand.

Brad Hodge, whose 18-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of sixes, scored 32. Five balls later, Vinay broke the run-a-ball stand.

Binny, whose three-ball innings included a boundary, scored half-a-dozen. He was unbeaten.

The sixth-wicket pair put on a run. Shah, who faced a ball, scored a run. A ball after Hodge’s dismissal, Kohli and de Villiers ran him out.

Faulkner, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was unbeaten.

RR, who scored 173 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off 19.5 overs, won by four wickets with a ball to spare.

Kartik and Jaydev Unadkat bowled three wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 32, the latter conceded 30.

Henriques, who bowled two overs, conceded half-a-dozen. He picked up a wicket.

Vinay, who bowled 3.5 overs, conceded 39. He picked up a wicket.

Rudra Pratap, who bowled four overs, conceded 35. He picked up a wicket.

Rampaul bowled four overs, including a maiden. He conceded 28, picking up two scalps.
