MI made no changes to their playing eleven.
KXIP made three changes to their playing eleven – Adam Gilchrist,
Harmeet Singh, and Bhargav Bhatt made way for Shaun Marsh, Manpreet Gony, and
Parvinder Awana.
On winning the toss, Rohit, MI’s skipper and the player of the
(Shar)match, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of MI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 36, and lost a wicket.
Tendulkar, whose 10-ball inningS(ach)included a couple of boundaries,
scored nine. Sixteen balls into the match, Praveen Kumar broke the 11-run
stand.
Dinesh Karthik, whose 19-ball innings included a couple of boundaries
and a six, scored 25. Thirty balls later, Gony broke the 32-run stand.
MI scored 50 off 9.1 overs (55 balls). KXIP had conceded a couple of extras
at that point.
Dwayne, whose (Smi)thirty-two-ball innings included three boundaries and
a six, scored 33. Twenty-eight balls after Dinesh’s dismissal, he was caught by
David Miller. Piyush Chawla broke the 43-run stand.
MI scored 100 off 14.2 overs (86 balls). KKR had conceded four extras at
that point.
Rohit’s half-century – which included four boundaries and three sixes –
came off 28 balls.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 31 balls. While Rohit’s
contribution to the partnership was 35, Kieron Pollard’s contribution to it was
13. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.
Rohit, whose 39-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and as
many sixes, eventually scored 79. He was unbeaten, as was Pollard, who
eventually socred 20 off 21 balls, which included a boundary and a six.
MI scored 150 off 19.1 overs (116 balls). The number of extras they had
conceded at that point gave KXIP no reason to be in seventh heaven.
KXIP eventually conceded eight extras. MI scored 174 for the loss of
three scalps off 20 overs.
David Hussey, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 31. He was
wicketless, as were Azhar Mahmood and Awana, who bowled four overs apiece.
While the former conceded 43, the latter conceded 24.
Chawla, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 24. He picked up a wicket,
as did Gony and Praveen, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former
conceded 32, the latter conceded 16.

Mandeep Singh, whose eight-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored nine. A couple of overs into the chase, Lasith Malinga broke the 12-run
stand.
Manan Vohra, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. Five balls
later, he was caught by Pollard. Mitchell Johnson broke the four-run stand.
KXIP scored 50 off 5.5 overs (35 balls). MI had conceded three extras at
that point.
Marsh, whose 12-ball innings included a boundary, scored 10. Twenty
balls after Vohra’s dismissal, he was caught by Pollard. Pragyan Ojha broke the
39-run stand.
David Hussey, KXIP’s skipper, scored 34. His 18-ball innings included
five boundaries and a six. Fifteen balls later, he was caught by Johnson.

Gurkeerat Singh Mann, who faced four balls, scored a couple. Five balls

Mahmood, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary, scored nine. Twenty-three
balls after Mann’s dismissal, he was caught by Karthik. Harbhajan broke the

Gony, who faced three balls, didn’t get off the mark. Four balls later,
he was caught by Karthik. Harbhajan broke the one-run stand.
Chawla, whose 10-ball innings included a six, scored a dozen. Seventeen
balls later, he was caught by Ambati Rayudu. Dhawal Kulkarni broke the 21-run
stand.
Miller’s half-century – which included a boundary and four sixes – came
off 32 balls.
He eventually scored 56 off 34 balls, which included a boundary and five
sixes. Half-a-dozen balls after Chawla’s dismissal, he was caught by Tendulkar.
Johnson broke the 17-run stand.
KXIP scored 150 off 18.1 overs (109 balls). MI had conceded 11 extras at

Praveen, whose 15-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of
sixes, scored 24. Thirteen balls after Miller’s dismissal, he was caught by
Tendulkar. Kulkarni broke the 21-run stand.
Awana, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t open his account. He was
unbeaten.
MI eventually conceded 13 extras. KXIP, who were dismissed for 170 off
20 overs, lost by four runs.
Pollard, who bowled a wicketless overs, conceded 15.
Malinga, who bowled four overs, conceded 39. He picked up a wicket.
Pragyan, who bowled three overs, conceded 22. He picked up a couple of
wickets, as did Kulkarni and Johnson, who bowled four overs apiece. While the
former conceded 44, the latter conceded 29.
Harbhajan, who bowled four overs, conceded 14. He picked up three
scalps.
