KXIP made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Rajagopal Sathish and Ryan Harris made way for David Miller and Manpreet Gony, the player of the match.
KKR made one change to their playing eleven – Laxmi Ratan Shukla made
way for Debabrata Das.
On winning the toss, Gautam Gambhir, KKR’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory
Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 35, and lost
a wicket.
Although his 12-ball innings included a boundary, Adam Gilchrist, KXIP’s
skipper, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 23 balls into the match, he
was trapped leg before wicket by Sachithra Senanayake, who broke the 24-run
stand.
KXIP scored 50 off 7.4 overs (46 balls). KKR had conceded a couple of extras
at that point.
Manan Vohra, whose 16-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored 17. Twenty-nine balls after Gilchrist’s dismissal, he was caught by Lakshmipathy
Balaji, who broke the 37-run stand.
Mandeep Singh, whose 30-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries,
scored 41. Nine balls (Bis)later, he was caught by Manvinder. Jacques Kallis broke
the run-a-ball stand.
David Hussey, who faced 15 balls, scored a dozen. Twenty-seven balls (Bis)later,
he was caught behind. Sunil broke the twenty-N(ar)ine-run stand.
The fifth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Azhar Mahmood, who faced
