Mumbai trounced by Sangakkara-led SRH

Neither SRH nor MI made any changes to their playing eleven.

On winning the toss, Rohit Sharma, MI’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of MI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 41, and lost a couple of wickets.

Tendulkar, whose 12-ball (Sach)innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 14. Twenty-eight balls into the match, Ishant, the player of the (Shar)match, broke the 32-run stand.

The second-wicket pair didn’t get off the (Shar)mark. Dinesh Karthik, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t open his account. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Karn off the bowling of Ishant.

MI scored 50 off 8.2 overs (51 balls). SRH had conceded four extras at that point.

Rohit, whose run-a-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 22. Forty-five balls after Dinesh’s dismissal, he was caught by Ishant. Amit Mishra broke the 42-run stand.

Dwayne, whose 40-ball innings included three boundaries and a couple of sixes, scored (Smi)thirty-eight. He was trapped leg be‘four’ wicket by Mishra, who broke the five-run stand.

MI scored 100 off 17 overs (103 balls). SRH had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 44 balls. While Kieron Pollard’s contribution to the partnership was 13, Ambati Rayudu’s contribution to it was 34. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.

Pollard, whose 19-ball innings included a boundary, eventually scored 14. He was unbeaten, as was Rayudu, who didn’t add to the aforementioned score. His 27-ball innings included four boundaries.

The number of extras they eventually conceded gave SRH no reason to be in seventh heaven.

MI scored 129 for the loss of four wickets off 20 overs.

Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.

Thisara, Dale Steyn and Karn were wicketless. They conceded 37, 27, and 25, respectively.

Mishra and Ishant picked up two scalps apiece, While the former conceded 24, the latter, whose spell included a maiden, conceded 15.

Kumar Sangakkara, SRH’s skipper, scored 21. His run-a-ball innings included three boundaries. Thirty-four balls after Akshath’s dismissal, he was caught by Harbhajan Singh, who broke the 37-run stand.

Shikhar Dhawan’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and a six – came off 40 balls.

SRH scored 100 off 14.3 overs (87 balls). MI had conceded an extra at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 42 balls. While Dhawan’s contribution to the partnership was 37, Hanuma Vihari’s contribution to it was 15. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

Dhawan, whose 55-ball innings included nine boundaries, in addition to the six, eventually scored 73. He was unbeaten.

Vihari, whose 23-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, eventually scored 25. Fifty-six balls after Sangakkara’s dismissal, he was caught by Rayudu. Dhawal Kulkarni broke the 74-run partnership.

Daren Sammy faced a ball, scoring a run. He was unbeaten.

MI eventually conceded three extras. SRH, who scored 130 for the loss of three wickets off 18 overs, won by seven wickets with a couple of overs to spare.

Dwayne and Rohit bowled a wicketless over apiece. While the former conceded 15, the latter conceded five.

Lasith Malinga, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 23.

Pragyan, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 18.

Kulkarni, who bowled two overs, conceded 13. He picked up a wicket.

Johnson, who bowled three overs, conceded 21. He picked up a wicket.

Harbhajan, who bowled four overs, conceded 35. He picked up a scalp.
