Pune disappointed; Dravid-led RR win

RR made four Cha(va)nges to their playing eleven – Dishant Yagnik, Owais Shah, Ankeet, and Brad Hogg made way for Brad Hodge, Sachin Baby, Kevon Cooper and Ajit Chandila.

PWI made five changes to their playing eleven – Tirumalasetti Suman, Steven Smith, Abhishek Nayar, Ajantha Mendis, and Ashok Dinda made way for Mitchell Marsh, Mahesh Rawat, Udit Birla, Wayne Parnell, and Krishnakant Upadhyay.

(Aar)On winning the toss, Finch, PWI’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of PWI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 61, without the loss of a wicket.

PWI’s openers put on 50 off five overs (30 balls). RR had conceded a couple of extras at that point. While Robin’s contribution to the (Uthap)partnership was 25, Finch’s contribution to it was 23.

Finch, whose 32-ball innings included seven boundaries, eventually scored 45. Sixty-five balls into the match, Cooper broke the 97-run partnership.

PWI scored 100 off 11.5 overs (71 balls). RR had conceded 10 extras at that point.

Yuvraj Singh, whose 11-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 15. Nineteen balls after Finch’s (Trive)dismissal, he was caught by Cooper. Siddharth broke the 27-run stand.

Uthappa’s half-century – which included eight boundaries and a six – came off 40 balls.

PWI scored 150 off 18 overs (108 balls). RR had conceded 10 extras at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on five. Uthappa eventually scored 54 off 41 balls. Eight balls after Yuvraj’s dismissal, Sanju Samson ran him out.

Marsh, whose 21-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and three sixes, scored 35. He was unbeaten.

Angelo Mathews, whose 15-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 18. Twenty-six balls after Uthappa’s dismissal, he was caught by Ajinkya Rahane, the player of the match. James Faulkner broke the 41-run stand.

Rawat, who did not face a ball, was unbeaten.

RR eventually conceded 11 extras. PWI scored 178 for the loss of four wickets off 20 overs.

Chandila and Stuart Binny bowled a couple of overs apiece. While the former conceded 23, the latter conceded 19. They were wicketless, as was Shane Watson, who bowled four overs, conceding 29.

Cooper, Faulkner and Trivedi bowled four overs each, picking up a scalp apiece. They conceded 39, 35, and 33, respectively.

He eventually scored 58 off 40 balls. Seventy-one balls into the chase, he was caught by Marsh. Mathews broke the 98-run partnership.

RR scored 100 off 12.1 overs (73 balls). PWI had conceded three extras at that point. That happened to be the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Rahane’s half-century – which included three boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 37 balls.

Watson, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored five. Eighteen balls after Dravid’s dismissal, Wayne Parnell broke the 30-run stand.

Rahane eventually scored 67 off 48 balls, which included half-a-dozen boundaries, in addition to the aforementioned number of sixes. Seven balls later, he was caught by Rahul Sharma. Bhuvneshwar Kumar broke the eight-run stand.

RR scored 150 off 16.5 overs (101 balls).

Hodge, who faced five balls, scored four. Seven balls after Rahane’s dismissal, he was caught by Bhuvneshwar. Parnell broke the 140run stand.

Binny, whose 13-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and as many sixes, scored 32, He was unbeaten.

Samson, whose six-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 10. Thirteen balls after Hodge’s dismissal, he was caught by Birla. Parnell broke the 25-run stand.

Faulkner, who faced a couple of balls, scored three. He was unbeaten.

RR, who scored 182 for the loss of five wickets off 19.5 overs, won by five wickets with a ball to spare.

Yuvraj, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs, conceded 16.

Upadhyay, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 29.

Rahul, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 38.

Mathews, who bowled three overs, conceded 34. He picked up a wicket, as did Bhuvneshwar, who bowled four overs, conceding 38.

Parnell, who bowled 3.5 overs, conceded 27. He picked up three scalps.
