Pune trounced by Virat-led RCB

RCB made no changes to their playing eleven.

PWI (Shar)made three changes to their playing eleven – Abhishek Nayar, Rahul, and Ajantha Mendis made way for Mitchell Marsh, Ali Murtaza, and Ishwar Pandey.

(Aar)On winning the toss, Finch, PWI’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 62, without the loss of a wicket.

Eight balls (1.2 overs) into the match, there was an interruption due to rain. RCB had scored 11 without the loss of a wicket at that point. While the contribution of Chris Gayle, the player of the match, to the partnership was nine, Tillakaratne Dilshan’s contribution to it was a couple.

RCB’s openers put on 50 off 4.5 overs (30 balls). PWI had conceded an extra at that point. While Gayle’s contribution to the partnership was 44, Dilshan was unbea‘ten’.

Gayle’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and four sixes – came off 17 balls.

RCB’s openers put on 100 off 7.5 overs (48 balls). PWI had conceded three extras at that point. While Gayle’s contribution to the partnership was 89, Dilshan’s contribution to it was 11.

Gayle’s ton – which included eight boundaries and 11 sixes – came off 30 balls.

RCB’s openers put on 150 off 11.5 overs (73 balls). PWI had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point. While Gayle’s contribution to the partnership was 114, Dilshan’s contribution to it was 30.

Gayle’s scored 150 off 53 balls, which included 11 boundaries and 16 sixes.

He eventually scored 175 off 66 balls, which included 13 boundaries and 17 sixes. He was unbeaten.

Dilshan, whose 36-ball innings included five boundaries, eventually scored 33. Eighty-four balls into the match, he was caught by Murtaza. Luke Wright broke the 167-run partnership.

RCB scored 200 off 15.5 overs (97 balls). PWI had conceded eight extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 40. Virat Kohli, whose nine-ball innings included a six, scored 11. Sixteen balls after Dilshan’s dismissal, Ashok Dinda ran him out.

RCB scored 250 off 18.4 overs (114 balls). PWI had conceded nine extras at that point.

A B de Villiers, whose eight-ball innings included three boundaries and as many sixes, scored 31. Fifteen balls after Kohli’s dismissal, he was caught by Mithun Manhas. Marsh broke the 44-run stand.

Saurabh Tiwary, who faced a couple of balls, scored as many. Five balls later, he was caught by Marsh. Dinda broke the 11-run stand.

Ravi Rampaul, who faced a ball, didn’t get off the mark. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Marsh. Dinda broke the one-run stand.

PWI eventually conceded 11 extras. RCB scored 263 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs.

Finch, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded 29.

Murtaza and Pandey bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 46, the latter conceded 33.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 23.

Marsh, who bowled three overs, conceded 56. He picked up a wicket, as did Wright, who bowled four overs, conceding 26.

Dinda, who bowled four overs, conceded 48. He picked up a couple of scalps.

The first Powerplay of PWI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 43, and lost four wickets.

PWI’s openers didn’t get off the mark. Uthappa, whose faced a couple of balls, didn’t open his account. A couple of balls (Rob)into the chase, he was caught by Rudra Pratap Singh off the bowling of Murali Kartik.

Finch, whose 15-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 18. Twenty-four balls later, he was caught by Kartik. Rampaul broke the 28-run stand.

Although his three-ball innings included a six, Wright had no reason to be in seventh heaven – half-a-dozen balls later, he was caught by de Villiers. Jaydev Unadkat broke the 10-run stand.

Yuvraj Singh, whose 14-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 16. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Kohli. Unadkat broke the four-run stand.  

PWI scored 50 off 7.1 overs (43 balls). RCB had conceded an extra at that point.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 37 balls. RCB had conceded a couple of extras at that point. While Steven’s contribution to the partnership was (Smi)thirty-five, Marsh’s contribution to it was 13.

PWI scored 100 off 13 overs (78 balls). RCB had conceded three extras at that point.

Smith, whose 31-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries, eventually scored 41. Forty-seven balls after Yuvraj’s dismissal, he was caught by Dilshan. Rampaul broke the 58-run partnership.

Marsh, whose 23-ball innings included a couple of sixes, scored 24. Seventeen balls later, Vinay Kumar broke the 19-run stand.

Manhas, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary, scored 11. He was unbeaten.

Bhuvneshwar, whose 12-ball innings included a boundary, scored half-a-dozen. Fifteen balls after Marsh’s dismissal, he was caught by Arun Karthik. Rudra Pratap broke the eight-run stand.

Murtaza, whose four-ball innings included a boundary, scored five. Four balls later, he was stumped by Arun Karthik. Gayle broke the five-run stand.

The ninth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Pandey, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t open his account. A couple of balls later, he was dismissed by Gayle.

Dinda, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was unbeaten.

RCB eventually conceded four extras. PWI, who scored 133 for the loss of nine wickets off 20 overs.

Kartik, who bowled three overs, conceded 25. He picked up a wicket, as did Vinay and Rudra Pratap, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 24, the latter conceded 20.

Gayle, who bowled an over, conceded five. He picked up a couple of scalps, as did Unadkat and Rampaul, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 37, the latter conceded 21.
