RR made three Chan(dila)ges to their playing eleven – Kusal Perera, Dishant Yagnik, and Harmeet Singh made way for Shane Watson, Sanju Samson, and Ajit.
KXIP made no changes to their playing eleven.
On winning the toss, Rahul Dravid, RR’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory
Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 34, and lost
three wickets.
Adam Gilchrist, KXIP’s skipper, faced two balls, failing to get off the
mark. Nine balls into the match, he was caught by Siddharth Trivedi. Sreesanth
broke the five-run stand.
Mandeep Singh, who faced eight balls, scored just a couple. Four balls later,
he was caught by Stuart Binny. Sreesanth broke the three-run stand.
The third-wicket pair put on a couple. Manan Vohra, who faced
half-a-dozen balls, scored three. Nine balls later, James Faulkner, the player
of the match, ran him out.
Gurkeerat Singh Mann, whose 15-ball innings included a boundary, scored
10. Thirty-one balls later, he was caught by Samson. Trivedi broke the 35-run
stand.
KXIP scored 50 off 9.3 overs (58 balls). RR had conceded five extras at
that point.
Rajagopal Sathish, whose 12-ball innings included a couple of
boundaries, scored 11. Eighteen balls after Mann’s dismissal, he was caught by
Samson. Faulkner broke the 22-run stand.
David Hussey, whose 31-ball innings included four boundaries and a six,
scored 41. Seven balls later, he was caught by Dravid. Trivedi broke the
eight-run stand.
Piyush, who faced nine balls, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 19
balls (Chaw)later, he was caught by Ajinkya Rahane. Kevon Cooper broke the
17-run stand.
KXIP scored 100 off 17 overs (103 balls). RR had conceded five extras at
that point.
Azhar Mahmood, whose 20-ball innings included three boundaries, scored
23. Nine balls after Chawla’s dismissal, Cooper broke the 12-run stand.
Ryan Harris, who faced three balls, scored a couple. He was unbeaten.
The ninth-wicket pair put on 20. Although his innings included a couple
of boundaries and a six, Praveen Kumar had no reason to be in seventh heaven –
he scored 15. Seven balls after Mahmood’s dismissal, Samson ran him out.
The last-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Parvinder Awana, who faced
a ball, didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was caught by Samson off the
bowling of Faulkner.
RR eventually conceded 10 extras. KXIP were dismissed for 124 off 18.5
overs.
Binny bowled an over, conceding four. He was wicketless, as was Chandila,
who bowled three overs, conceding 14.
Cooper bowled three overs, conceding 33. He picked up a couple of
wickets.
Faulkner, who bowled 3.5 overs, conceded 30. He picked up a couple of
wickets.
Trivedi and Sreesanth bowled four overs each, picking up a couple of
scalps apiece. While the former conceded 21, the latter, whose spell included a
maiden, conceded 20.
The first Powerplay of RR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 48, and lost a wicket.
Watson, whose 19-ball innings included seven boundaries, scored 32. Twenty-eight
balls into the chase, he was caught by Mandeep. Awana broke the 43-run stand.

RR scored 50 off 6.3 overs (39 balls). KXIP had conceded eight extras at
that point.
Dravid, whose 12-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored
nine. Fifteen balls later, he was caught by Gilchrist. Praveen broke the run-a-ball
stand.
The third-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Binny, who faced four
balls, didn’t open his account. Four balls later, he was caught by Gilchrist
off the bowling of Praveen.
Hodge, whose 16-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 15.
Thirty balls (Chaw)later, the leggie trapped him leg before wicket, breaking
the 21-run stand.
RR scored 100 off 15.5 overs (95 balls). KXIP had conceded nine extras
at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
Samson, whose 23-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 27. He was
unbeaten.
RR, who scored 126 for the loss of four wickets off 19.2 overs, won by
half-a-dozen wickets with four balls to spare.
Harris and Mahmood bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the former
conceded 30, the latter conceded 23.
Chawla bowled 3.2 overs, conceding 22. He picked up a wicket, as did
Awana, who bowled four overs, conceding 35.
Praveen bowled four overs, including a maiden. He conceded 10, picking
up two scalps.
