SRH made one change to their playing (Pat)eleven – Parthiv made way for Akshath Reddy.
KXIP made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – David Miller and
Parvinder Awana made way for Paul Valthaty and Dimitri Mascarenhas.
On winning the toss, Adam Gilchrist, KXIP’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory
Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 36, and lost
a wicket.
Mandeep Singh, whose 11-ball innings included a boundary, scored 10.
Seventeen balls into the (Shar)match, he was caught by Quinton de Kock. Ishant
broke the 15-run stand.
Gilchrist, whose 25-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 26.
Thirty-five balls later, he was caught by Ishant. His namesake, Karn Sharma,
broke the 32-run stand.
Valthaty, who faced 17 balls, scored just half-a-dozen. A couple of
balls later, he was caught by Thisara Perera. Karn broke the one-run stand.
KXIP scored 50 off 9.2 overs (56 balls). SRH had conceded five extras at
that point.
The fourth-wicket pair put on 40. Piyush Chawla, whose 15-ball innings included
a boundary and a couple of sixes, scored 23. Thirty-one balls after Valthaty’s
dismissal, Akshath and Thisara ran him out.
KXIP scored 100 off 15.3 overs (93 balls). SRH had conceded half-a-dozen
extras at that point.
David Hussey, whose 24-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored
22. Fourteen balls after Chawla’s dismissal, he was caught by Akshath. Ishant
broke the 16-run stand.
Azhar Mahmood, who faced four balls, scored as many. His runs came by
way of a boundary. Seven balls later, he was caught by Ashish Reddy. Amit
Mishra broke the 10-run stand.
The seventh-wicket pair put on a run. Manpreet Gony didn’t face a ball.
The next ball, Ishant and de Kock ran him out.
The eighth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Manan Vohra, who faced a
ball, didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was caught by Ishant off the
bowling of Mishra.
The ninth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Gurkeerat Singh Mann,
whose 12-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 17. The next ball, he
was dismissed by Dale Steyn.
Mascarenhas, who faced five balls, scored as many. He was unbeaten, as
was Praveen Kumar, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scoring three.
The number of extras they eventually conceded gave SRH no reason to be
in seventh heaven.
KXIP scored 123 for the loss of nine wickets off 20 overs.
Vihari, the player of the (Hanu)match, bowled an over, conceding a
couple. He was unbeaten, as was Thisara, who bowled four overs, conceding 25.
Steyn, who bowled four overs, conceded 14. He picked up a wicket.
Karn, who bowled three overs, conceded 19. He picked up a couple of
scalps, as did Ishant and Mishra, who bowled four overs, conceding 29.

SRH’s openers didn’t get off the mark. De Kock, who faced four balls, didn’t
open his account. Four balls into the chase, he was dismissed by Praveen.

19. Forty-six balls later, he was caught by Mahmood. Gony broke the 48-run
stand.
SRH scored 50 off 8.3 overs (51 balls). KXIP hadn’t conceded any extras
at that point.
Vihari, whose 39-ball innings included five boundaries, scored 46.
Twenty-three balls after Akshath’s dismissal, he was caught by David Hussey.
Chawla broke the 22-run stand.
Cameron White, SRH’s skipper, scored 16 off 23 balls, which included a
boundary. Twenty-one balls later, Gony broke the 17-run stand.
Samantray, whose 12-ball innings included (Bipl)aboundary, scored 10. Half-a-dozen
balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Mahmood, who broke the 10-run
stand.
SRH scored 100 off 17.1 overs (103 balls). KXIP had conceded five extras
at that point.
Thisara, whose 11-ball innings included three sixes, scored 23. He was
unbeaten, as was Ashish Reddy, who had a reason to be in seventh heaven – his run-a-ball
innings included a boundary.
KXIP eventually conceded half-a-dozen extras. SRH, who scored 127 for
the loss of five wickets off 18.5 overs, won by five wickets with seven balls
to spare.
Mascarenhas bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 25.
Praveen bowled three overs, including a maiden. He conceded a dozen,
picking up a wicket.
Mahmood bowled 3.5 overs, conceding 36. He picked up a wicket.
Chawla bowled four overs, conceding 25. He picked up a wicket.
Gony bowled four overs, conceding 24. He picked up two scalps.
