White leads; SRH beat Pune

PWI made one change to their playing eleven – Ross Taylor made way for Angelo Mathews, who was leading the team, and chose to field on winning the toss.

SRH made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Kumar Sangakkara and Dwaraka Ravi Teja made way for Quinton de Kock and Biplab Samantray.

The first Powerplay of SRH’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 25, and lost four wickets.

De Kock, who faced eight balls, scored just a couple. A couple of overs into the match, he was caught by Mitchell Marsh. Ashok Dinda broke the five-run stand.

Parthiv Patel, whose nine-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored a dozen. Five balls later, Bhuvneshwar Kumar broke the 10-run stand.

The third-wicket pair failed to get off the mark. Cameron White, SRH’s skipper, didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar.

Hanuma Vihari, who faced eight balls, scored just a run. A couple of overs later, he was caught by Aaron Finch. Bhuvneshwar broke the two-run stand.

Karn Sharma who faced 13 balls, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 26 balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by his namesake, Rahul Sharma, who broke the 24-run stand.

Thisara Perera, who faced four balls, scored a couple. Eight balls later, he was caught by Robin Uthappa. Marsh broke the three-run stand.

SRH scored 50 off 11.1 overs (67 balls). PWI had conceded three extras at that point.

Samantray, whose run-a-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 37. Twenty-six balls after Thisara’s dismissal, he was caught by Manish Pandey. Rahul Sharma broke the 31-run stand.

SRH scored 100 off 18.4 overs (112 balls). PWI had conceded four extras at that point.

The eighth-wicket pair put on 40. Amit Mishra, the player of the match, scored 30. His 24-ball innings included three boundaries. Twenty-nine balls after Samantray’s dismissal, Abhishek Nayar and Uthappa ran him out.

Ashish Reddy, whose 15-ball innings included a six, scored 19. He was unbeaten, as was Dale Steyn, who faced a ball, scoring a boundary.

PWI eventually conceded five extras. SRH scored 119 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs.

Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.

Mathews, who conceded 29, was wicketless.

Marsh and Dinda picked up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 26, the latter conceded 25.

Rahul Sharma conceded 21, picking up two wickets.

Bhuvneshwar conceded 18, picking up three scalps.

PWI scored 50 off 7.1 overs (43 balls). SRH hadn’t conceded any extras at that point. In fact, they did not concede any extras.

Tirumalasetti Suman, whose 14-ball innings included a boundary, scored a dozen. Twenty-four balls after Finch’s dismissal, he was trapped leg before wicket by Karn, who broke the 19-run stand.

Steven Smith, who faced 25 balls, scored 17. Twenty-four balls later, he was caught by Ashish. Ishant Sharma broke the 19-run stand.

PWI scored 100 off 16.2 overs (98 balls).

Marsh, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary and the only six of the innings, scored 14. Twenty-seven balls after Smith’s dismissal, he was caught by Ashish Reddy. Dale Steyn broke the 25-run stand.

The sixth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Nayar, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t open his account. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Samantray. Thisara broke the six-run stand.

Although he was unbeaten, Pandey, whose six-ball innings included a boundary, had no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Bhuvneshwar, who faced a ball, didn’t get off the mark. A couple of balls after Nayar’s dismissal, he was trapped leg before wicket by Mishra, who broke the one-run stand.

The ninth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Rahul Sharma, who faced a ball, didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was dismissed by Mishra.

The last-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Dinda, who faced a ball, didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was dismissed by Mishra, who completed his hat-trick.

PWI, who were bundled out for 108 off 19 overs, lost by 11 runs.

Karn bowled three overs, conceding 13. He picked up a wicket, as did Steyn and Ishant, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 34, the latter conceded 22.

Thisara bowled four overs, conceding 20. He picked up three wickets.
