Delhi disappointed; Virat-led RCB win

DD (Shar)made ten changes to their playing (Mork)eleven – Mahela Jayawardene, David Warner, Bharat Chipli, Virender Sehwag, Ben Rohrer, Irfan Pathan, Chidhambaram Gautam, Morne, Umesh Yadav, and Siddarth Kaul made way for Mayank Agarwal, Murali Vijay, Dinesh Karthik (who was leading the team), Manoj Tiwary, Jean-Paul Duminy, Ross Taylor, James Neesham, Wayne Parnell, Rahul, and Mohammed Shami.

RCB made nine changes to their playing (Pat)eleven – Chris Gayle, Moises Henriques, Rudra Pratap Singh, K L Rahul, Saurabh Tiwary, Vinay Kumar, Zaheer Khan, Ravi Rampaul, and Jaydev Unadkat made way for Parthiv, Nic Maddinson, Yuvraj Singh, Albie Morkel, Sachin Rana, Ashok Dinda, Mitchell Starc, Yuzvendra Chahal (the player of the match), and Varun Aaron.

On winning the toss, Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of DD’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 30, and lost three wickets.

Agarwal, who faced 10 balls, scored half-a-dozen. Three overs into the match, he was caught by Kohli. Starc broke the 15-run stand.

Dinesh, whose faced a ball, failed to get off the mark. Three balls later, he was caught by Parthiv. Albie broke the one-run stand.

Manoj, who faced three balls, scored a run. Four balls later, he was caught by Parthiv. Aaron broke the one-run stand.

Vijay, whose 20-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 18. Eighteen balls later, Chahal broke the run-a-ball stand.

DD scored 50 off 10.1 overs (61 balls). RCB had conceded eight extras at that point.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 48 balls. While Duminy’s contribution to the partnership was 27, Taylor’s contribution to it was 21. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was five.

DD scored 100 off 16.4 overs (101 balls). RCB had conceded 10 extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Duminy’s half-century – which included a couple of boundaries and as many sixes – came off 44 balls.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 100 off 76 balls. While Duminy’s contribution to the partnership was 51, Taylor’s contribution to it was 43. The latter, whose 39-ball innings included four boundaries, was unbeaten. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was half-a-dozen.

Duminy, whose 48-ball innings included four boundaries and three sixes, eventually scored 67.

DD scored 145 for the loss of four wickets off 20 overs.

Yuvraj, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 16. He was wicketless, as was Dinda, who bowled four overs, conceding 51.

Albie and Aaron bowled three overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 18, the latter, whose spell included a maiden, conceded nine.

Starc and Chahal bowled four overs each, picking up a scalp apiece. While the former conceded 33, the latter conceded 18.

RCB scored 50 off half-a-dozen overs (36 balls). DD had conceded an extra at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 34 balls. While Parthiv’s contribution to the partnership was 33, Kohli’s contribution to it was 17. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.

Parthiv, whose 28-ball innings included five boundaries and a six, eventually scored 37. Forty-two balls after Maddinson’s dismissal, Rahul broke the 56-run partnership.

RCB scored 100 off 14 overs (84 balls). DD had conceded three extras at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 33 balls. While Kohli’s contribution to the partnership was 26, Yuvraj’s contribution to it was 27. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

Kohli, whose 38-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and three sixes, scored 49. He was unbeaten.

Yuvraj’s half-century – which included three boundaries and five sixes – came off 28 balls.

He eventually scored 52 off 29 balls, and was unbeaten.

DD eventually conceded four extras. RCB, who scored 146 for the loss of a couple of wickets off 16.4 overs, won by eight wickets with 20 balls to spare.

Neesham and Duminy bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 22, the latter conceded 10.

Nadeem, who bowled 2.4 wicketless overs, conceded 32.

Parnell, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 19.

Rahul, who bowled three overs, conceded 33. He picked up a scalp, as did Shami, who bowled four overs, conceding 30.
