Finch leads; PWI beat Delhi

PWI made one change to their playing eleven – Ishwar Pandey made way for Ashok Dinda.

DD made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Unmukt (Ch)and Ashish Nehra made way for Bharat Chipli and Shahbaz Nadeem.

(Aar)On winning the toss, Finch, PWI’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of PWI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 40, and lost a wicket.

Uthappa, whose 20-ball (Rob)innings included three boundaries, scored 24. Thirty-one balls into the match, he was caught by David Warner. Umesh Yadav broke the 38-run stand.

PWI scored 50 off 7.3 overs (45 balls). DD had conceded three extras at that point.

Manish Pandey, whose 14-ball innings included a six, scored 10. Twenty-seven balls after Uthappa’s dismissal, Nadeem broke the 36-run stand.

Finch’s half-century – which included three boundaries and four sixes – came off 31 balls.

He eventually scored 52 off (Siddhar)thirty-four balls. Fourteen balls after Manish’s dismissal, he was caught by Virender Sehwag. Kaul broke the 17-run stand.

Yuvraj Singh had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just three. Nine balls later, he was caught by Sehwag. Irfan Pathan broke the five-run stand.

PWI scored 100 off 14.2 overs (86 balls). DD had conceded three extras at that point.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 28 balls. While Angelo Mathews’ contribution to the partnership was 21, the contribution of Luke Wright, the player of the match, to it was 28. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

Mathews, whose 22-ball innings included a couple of sixes, eventually scored 30. He was unbeaten.

PWI scored 150 off 18.3 overs (111 balls). DD had conceded four extras at that point.

Wright eventually scored 44 off 23 balls, which included seven boundaries and a six. Thirty-seven balls after Yuvraj’s dismissal, he was caught by Sehwag. Kaul broke the 71-run partnership.

Raiphi Gomez, who faced a ball, scored a boundary. He was unbeaten.

DD eventually conceded five extras. PWI scored 172 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs.

Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.

Morne Morkel, who was wicketless, conceded 36.

Umesh, Irfan, and Nadeem picked up a wicket apiece. They conceded 52, 34, and 21, respectively.

Kaul, who conceded 27, picked up a couple of scalps.

Mahela Jayawardene, DD’s skipper, scored 14 off 13 balls, which included three boundaries. Sixteen balls later, he was caught by Wright. Ali Murtaza broke the 23-run stand.

DD scored 50 off 6.2 overs (39 balls). PWI had conceded a dozen extras at that point.

Sehwag, whose 10-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 11. Fifteen balls after Jayawardene’s dismissal, he was caught by Gomez. Murtaza broke the run-a-ball stand.

The fourth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Chipli, whose 18-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 16. The next ball, he was trapped leg before wicket by Murtaza.

Although his nine-ball innings included a boundary, Ben Rohrer had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 13 balls later, Dinda broke the nine-ball stand.

DD scored 100 off 14 overs (85 balls). PWI had conceded 14 extras at that point.

The sixth-wicket pair put on 50 off 37 balls. While Irfan’s contribution to the partnership was 19, Chidhambaram Gautam’s contribution to it was 29. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was four.

Gautam eventually scored 30 off 23 balls, which included a couple of boundaries and a six. Forty-two balls after Rohrer’s dismissal, he was caught by Gomez. Mathews broke the 54-run partnership.

Morne, whose faced a ball, didn’t get off the mark. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Parnell. Mathews broke the one-run stand.

Irfan, whose 28-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 24. Nine balls later, he was caught by Manish. Mathews broke the six-run stand.

Umesh, who faced nine balls, scored eight. He was unbeaten.

Nadeem, whose five-ball innings included a boundary, scored half-a-dozen. Eight balls after Irfan’s dismissal, he was caught by Mathews. Dinda broke the run-a-ball stand.

Kaul, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.

PWI eventually conceded 16 extras. DD, who scored 134 for the loss of nine wickets off 20 overs, lost by 38 runs.

Yuvraj, who bowled two overs, conceded 17. He was wicketless, as was Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who bowled four overs, conceding 26.

Parnell, who bowled three overs, conceded 26. He picked up a wicket.

Dinda, who bowled four overs, conceded 21. He picked up a couple of wickets.
