RCB made three changes to their playing eleven – Cheteshwar Pujara, Arun Karthik, and Muttiah Muralitharan made way for Rudra Pratap Singh, Saurabh Tiwary, and Ravi Rampaul.
CSK made one change to their playing (Mork)eleven – Albie made way for his
fellow South African, Chris Morris.
On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, chose to
field.
Prior to the start of play, there was an interruption due to rain.
As a result of that, the match was reduced to an eight-overs-a-side
match.
The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay
– was between the first and the second over. They scored 17, without the loss
of a wicket.
RCB’s openers put on 50 off 4.4 overs (28
balls). CSK had conceded four extras at that point. While the contribution of Virat Kohli, RCB’s
skipper and the player of the match, to the partnership was 34, Chris Gayle’s
contribution to it was 16.
Gayle, whose
13-ball innings included four sixes, eventually scored 28. Thirty-two balls
into the chase, he was caught by Michael Hussey. Dwayne Br(av)oke the 67-run
partnership.
De Villiers,
whose three-ball innings included A Boundary, scored five. Five balls later, he
was caught by Ravindra Jadeja. Mohit Sharma broke the nine-run stand.
RCB scored 100 off 7.5 overs (47 balls). CSK had conceded five extras at
that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually
conceded.
Kohli’s half-century – which included five boundaries and four sixes –
came off 28 balls.
He eventually scored 56 off 29 balls, which included half-a-dozen
boundaries, in addition to the aforementioned number of sixes. He was unbeaten,
as was Moises Henriques, who faced three balls, scoring a dozen. His runs came
by way of boundaries.
RCB scored 106 for the loss of a couple of wickets off eight overs.
Jason Holder, who bowled an over, conceded 20. He was wicketless, as were
Morris and Ravichandran Ashwin, who bowled a couple of overs apiece. While the
former conceded 22, the latter conceded 21.
Mohit, who bowled an over, conceded 14. He picked up a scalp, as did
Bravo, who bowled a couple of overs, conceding 26.

The second-wicket pair didn’t get off the (Ku)mark. Suresh Raina, who
faced a ball, didn’t open his account. The next ball, he was caught by Vinay
off the bowling of Khan.
Bravo, whose nine-ball innings included a six, scored 11. Fourteen balls
later, he was caught by Saurabh Tiwary. Vinay broke the 18-run stand.
CSK scored 50 off 5.4 overs (34 balls). RCB had conceded an extra at
that point.
Murali Vijay, whose 19-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and as
many sixes, scored 32. Thirteen balls after Bravo’s dismissal, he was caught by
Gayle. Rampaul broke the 27-run stand.
Dhoni, whose 10-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and as many
sixes, scored 24. Nine balls later, he was caught by Jaydev Unadkat. Khan broke
the 22-run stand.
Although his four-ball innings included a boundary, Jadeja had no reason
to be in seventh heaven – a couple of balls later, he was caught by Khan, who
broke the four-run stand.
Subramaniam Badrinath, who did not face a ball, was unbeaten.
RCB eventually conceded a couple of extras. CSK, who scored 82 for the
loss of half-a-dozen wickets off eight overs, lost by 24 runs.
Rudra Pratap, who bowled an over, conceded 19. He was wicketless, as was
Unadkat, who bowled a couple of overs, conceding 16.
Vinay, who bowled an over, conceded 10. He picked up a scalp, as did Rampaul,
who bowled a couple of overs, conceding 20.
Khan, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 17. He picked up four
scalps.
