Rajasthan disappointed; Rohit-led MI win

MI made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Dwayne Smith and Sachin Tendulkar made way for Glenn Maxwell and Aditya Tare, the player of the match.

RR made a couple of Cha(va)nges to their playing eleven – Siddharth Trivedi and Vikramjeet Malik made way for Ankeet and Pravin Tambe.

On winning the toss, Rahul Dravid, RR’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of MI’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 49, and lost a wicket.

Maxwell, whose 17-ball innings included three sixes, scored 23. Twenty balls into the match, he was trapped leg before wicket by Shane Watson broke the 25-run stand.

MI scored 50 off 6.1 overs (37 balls). RR had conceded three extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 37 balls. While Tare’s contribution to the partnership was 36, Dinesh Karthik’s contribution to it was 11. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was four.

The fifth-wicket pair put on half-a-dozen. Kieron Pollard, whose 14-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 17. Five balls later, Cooper ran him out.

MI scored 150 off 17.3 overs (105 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave RR no reason to be in seventh heaven. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Ambati Rayudu, who faced seven balls, scored as many. Seven balls after Pollard’s dismissal, he was caught by Samson. Watson broke the run-a-ball stand.

Harbhajan Singh, whose innings included a boundary and a six, scored 15. He had a reason to be in seventh heaven – he was unbeaten.

Mitchell Johnson had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just a couple. Ten balls after Rayudu’s dismissal, he was caught by Brad Hodge. Faulkner broke the 13-run stand.

The eighth-wicket pair put on a couple. Lasith Malinga, who faced a ball, scored a run. Three balls later, Watson, Faulkner and Dishant Yagnik ran him out.
